I read the prologue yesterday and Chapter 1 today.

First of all, re-upping what I said when I peeked at the front matter a while back, but it’s nice to see the town map upgraded to a region map.
So this was maybe not a great chapter to open up on with “I’m going to read the big girl no-furigana edition” lol. I think this is one of our first heavy noble-to-noble conversations that we see, and so especially until the attendants were sent away, lots of challenging language.
It’s interesting that Karstadt hadn’t realised the full extent of Myne’s mana potential from the display at the end of the last volume. Like he realised that she’s more powerful than a lower-class noble at least, but we had Ferdinand musing she’s more powerful than the city’s lord who is supposed to be the most powerful noble in the city.

So like “something” happened with nobles, that she’s not allowed talk about, and now Myne’s clothes are ruined. Shouldn’t Benno be more worried, given what we know of this world? Like as readers we know the story wouldn’t do that to Myne, and also we know what actually happened, but we also know that the world is bad that way and Benno lives in that world.
Maybe my opinion of the world has just been darkened by one of the last things I read being the bonus chapters for last volume which both made it clear that the world sucks.
A little surprised Myne had to explain scale vs marginal profit to Benno! I guess it might be more that Myne knows the scale of the target market in our world and thinks she can grow the market to that, while Benno is thinking of the size of the current target market in Ehrenfest.
It’s good to see Frieda back, even if just for a little bit.
