Oh okay. That’s a pretty blunt way of telling the reader the truth about the world (assuming it’s correct; if incorrect that was just a waste of time).
Not going to lie, I’m not a fan of that setting. I’ve read books where it’s done well (Permutation City being one of them, and my absolute recommendation on this theme), but it involves writing (and planning…) skills that the author hasn’t demonstrated so far ![]()
Sooo I’m a bit apprehensive.
I don’t think it’s irrelevant in the sense that
- it tells us basically the way that world works (probably, it’s just a theory)
- I assume we will see both characters again, one way or another. I somehow expect her to have just downloaded his personality or something so that she can put it into another body like in the game Soma. I assume that’s how you make the undeads too.
