What does everyone think about this for non human protagonist?
A story where the protagonist used to be human but for the bulk of the story isn’t. E.g. they are reincarnated as a spider, a slime, a dog, a vending machine, etc etc

I liked that series a lot! It gets slower in the middle as the story focuses on other characters (that I don’t care about), but I still had fun reading it.

I made a new bingo card in Canva. Unfortunately I can’t share it, but it’s based off the Christmas Bingo Card template from Haps Design Space.
Anyways, in my case I’m counting one book per square and I’m being strategic(ish) so while 私の夫は冷凍庫に眠っている (小学館文庫 や 28-1) | L29 could count as new author and added to Natively by me, I’m counting it as my debut work.

My plan is to participate in Japanese with one square per book.
Also, I want to try those modifiers:
- text-only (should work fine except maybe for the “1 vol. in a single day” square)
- only from my backlog (which shouldn’t be too hard actually )
Today I got my first square ticked!
It’s 天気の子, and for the time being I’ve put it into “new author”.

Realized I wrote about my bingo plan over in my study log on wk, but never actually put it on the forum for the event itself 
I just finished off my book project from last year, and am ready to start thinking about these reads though!
I’m going to be using these restrictions:
- one tile per book
- (unofficial) use only books/manga rated orange or higher.
- I’m also “not using” my free space, and instead reading a book that I got “for free”
So manga is fine for me, just has to be harder manga.
planned reads
- no reviews/ratings/gradings - 東方茨歌仙 ~Wild and Horned Hermit. - no gradings, but it’s definitely orange from when I did a test read before lol
- new author to me - ゆるキャン△, but really most things could fit here, I’ve just already read the 1st volume of most things on my 積読 list
- qualifer - tbd, probably last thing i fill in, probably some manga that doesn’t fit into anything else
- for free - 本好きの下剋上 volume 1 I got for free (or paid coins when it was on super sale, i can’t remember, and is at various points available to read for free, so I’m counting it
- Award Winner - コンビニ人間 I have returned for my revenge
- non-fiction - 日本文化を英語で説明する辞典 - a parallel reader about various aspects of japanese culture.
- higher level - いちご同盟 (33)
- debut work - コーヒーが冷めないうちに
- book club - セーラー服と機関銃 with the IBC
- added by you - I wish I could see what things i’ve added lol, but I know for sure I added 理系が恋に落ちたので証明してみた (manga) so probably that, and there’s so much science terminology in that I’m sure it’s an orange read.
- non-human protagonist - 狼と香辛料 a bit hard for me, but hoping that at some point this year I will be able to tackle at least the first volume.
- longest on tbr pile - 蟲師 (29) all of the volumes I got at the same time, technically
- bad cover - あせとせっけん (27) this includes “book you read despite the cover,” so this definitely qualifies for me. it looks like it’s gonna be a bad ecchi, but then supposedly is actually kind of a cute romcom (but also is definitely still ecchi lol)
- 1 volume in a day - probably going to be a manga. I’m going to be trying to read all of 3月のライオン (31) in ３月 like I did last year with 四月は君の噓 in 四月, so probably during that.
- finish a series - would like to finish 3月のライオン in ３月, so I will count this for then
- workplace setting - ヲタクに恋は難しい (manga, 28)
That includes 7 books! I would be pretty happy with a 50% book and 50% hard manga ratio, if that’s what it ends up being. It’s also possible I’m completely underestimating my ability and I end up being able to read more stuff
