@bibliothecary I was checking out that top 30 list you set up, and I’m both surprised by the number of titles I know and the number I don’t know.

I’ve added short descriptions for all the items on BL University | Beyond Fiction | Japanese list by bibliothecary | Natively; considering this list done. If you add a book to the list, please include a brief description (a single sentence will do).

Let’s see; of the 30 titles there, 8 I’m at least somewhat familiar with. Which doesn’t sound like a lot, granted, but I’m used to not recognizing more than 1 or 2 given titles from any list. :rofl:

I saw those as well; お疲れ様でした~ I need to look around and see if there’s anything else interesting I can add myself…

I’m at 2.5: 美しい彼 (series) | L30, 魔道祖師 (series) | L39, and I bought the first volume of パブリックスクール (series) | L30 purely based on the title & art. :joy:

That’s one of the “oh, I’ve seen that around” books for me. Honestly I’ve been really tempted to pick it up myself based on nothing but the cover art.

So interestingly, during a bit of research I found out that the author of BL進化論 ボーイズラブが社会を動かす | L35?? apparently actually came to the States to speak about her book two years ago:

(Also, looks like that book got a Korean translation!)

I’ve been going through these and making miniscule updates along the way; is 薔薇王の葬列 (series) | L24?? really BL/BL-leaning?

I haven’t read it myself, but AniList includes highly-rated tags for BL, LGBTQ+, and Bisexual; although looking at Baraou no Souretsu - Baka-Updates Manga the MC is intersex, which complicates things a bit. :thinking:

It seems like netflix japan only has live action adaptions actually tagged…

Netflix’s algorithm suggests live action bl to me but I can’t get it to start doing anime.

I figure almost anything available for streaming will probably be accessible to me on either Netflix or amazon prime

I’ve just started a new list:

To start with, I’m just adding books in date order based on MU’s data - other info will be added once that’s done. If anyone wants to help, just let me know and I’ll add you as a collab! :slightly_smiling_face:

Missing (no amazon page):
Natsukusa no Moeru Koro - Baka-Updates Manga
Gokigen? Api - Baka-Updates Manga

ETA: Done so far:

  • added books
  • added publishing dates & magazines
  • new items have been updated to series (still waiting for イブの息子たち 1 | L24??)
  • sent feedback for missing images

It’s just descriptions (list & items) that need updated.

I think it might be nice to have informal book clubs for the BLU lists (one thread per list) so people who are interested in specific themes can discuss. It would depend on if others are interested, and it wouldn’t be all at once (don’t want to flood the forums). The book clubs could just be added to the table of lists in the first post and, of course linked in the list description. Thoughts?

Sorry for my recent disappearance on helping with these; I’ve been sucked into reading a new danmei busy, so I’m a bit behind on stuff in general. :sweat_smile: I’m super looking forward to this list, though! Add me if you’d like; I may not be able to contribute for a few days, though.
