No problem, they’re pretty easy! Generally the only must-have would be a reading schedule. Nice-to-haves include a poll or two on participation, maybe a picture of the book cover for a graphic to catch the eye, cute emojis. They’re pretty customizable, though; you can always check out the 人狼サバイバル threads for inspiration, or basically any of the others.
I’d say set up the thread at least a week in advance if possible (though more time to allow for voting, etc. is never bad) to give people time to find it and whatnot. Set up a reading start date poll (though we’ve already got one here for this book, granted), a reading pace poll, and perhaps a poll on whether people would like to keep all discussion in the home thread vs. multiple ones.
Hi all! We’re nearing the end of the current book club, so voting will begin anew soon. Here’s our current nomination list; I’ll put up a new poll next week.
The Yuri BC just finished 徒然日和 | L20. I think it would be silly to nominate something that just had its BC, but I think it qualifies ad a very good iyashikei. So, check out the BC if you are interested: Home Thread for 徒然日和 | L21 - Now reading Vol 3
Both of those have some drama. 僕らの食卓 probably more so. But a lot of that is in flashbacks.
I don’t really want to start anything new outside of my “backlog”. But I liked 徒然日和 so much, and I think the iyashikei vibes had a lot to do with it. Maybe someone can give some recommendations. Or maybe I can inspire someone for a nomination.
I like the idea of “iyashikei with an edge”. Bit of a contradiction, but I think possible to a degree. Like iyashikei but a serious romance or drama or competition (like a iyashikei sports manga) or a philosophical element.
I’m currently reading であいもん 1 | L29 . Quite good (I started the manga after watching the anime). One of those manga with a large and diverse cast (especially in age). But difficult because of the dialect and the terrible image quality of the digital version. I’m not “officially nominating” this, as I’m reading this myself and have no intension of re-reading the first volume.

Reason(s) for nominating: Every single jp booktuber I watched lately talked about this book so I’m curious about it, and it’s tagged iyashikei on here.

Reason(s) for nominating: I read お探し物は図書室まで | L29 in translation and really liked it. While in Japan recently I bought both these books and this one appears to be the easier of the two.

Reason(s) for nominating: I have read the first half or so and this book is ultra cozy. The illustrations are beautiful and the homes depicted are kind of inspiring, honestly. Could be really fun to discuss, I think.
