Book Providers Megathread (Official Management)

Yay! This will be so useful!

I notice that Yes24 ebook links have both “(Ebook)” and the ‘E’ tag - can we go with just the tag, or does it need to be different from the link to the physical book?

Ah good point. It’s a tad complicated because in free dropdowns, filter tags I’d like to distinguish them, but maybe I’m over thinking it. I’d have to at least fix the dropdowns.

I agree it’d be more elegant but may not.

Cool, next three orders I’ll place through the amazon.co.uk link and let you know once I’ve done it. Should be by end of August, just waiting for pay day :joy:

If I can’t find stuff on the uk amazon, I search by the ISBN number from amazon.jp which makes it populate unless it’s not available. Might be an option for amazon.de

@Biblio we are in business!

 I am surprised it’s in German.

I read Klicks with German accent.

There’s a way to view it in English, but the default is in German and I know the interface so I kept it. It’s more fun

It took me a bit to even realize I was reading German. The “conversion” threw me, because that’s not German.

ISBN search provides this site: https://booktrapper.com/isbn-lookup Maybe you can use it.

Interesting, I haven’t seen this one before.

Unfortunately, similar to my previous experience with these sorts of ISBN lookups, they actually don’t have good coverage for foreign language books.

For instance, this is their page for コンビニ人間 | L29 - https://booktrapper.com/books/9784167911300?type_of=buy.

They have an incorrect title and they literally have no providers outside abebooks … and that’s for a really popular book too! I don’t fault them too much, even Google Books has lots of trouble with foreign language books. Really only Amazon has everything… and even they do poorly with Korean.

Will there be a way for us to mark furigana for a book now that we can’t edit the auto-generated providers section @brandon?

Not sure if this is an error or not, but it feels like it: when selecting the Aozora Roudoku provider on the book search page or my library, it automatically selects Aozora as well:

Edit: Also, I added a Soseki project link to 三四郎 | L40 , as well as a note, but when I go to edit the link, the note doesn’t show:

This is probably the same cause as the last bug in my above post, but did notice this: I added an Amazon Kindle link, and after going back in to edit it, the correct Amazon provider isn’t being selected by default:

Edit: Can Audible US be added as an auto-formatted provider? Since they do offer (at least) Japanese audiobooks.

Could Storytel be added? Or at least formatted so it looks nice. :persevere:

I also selected ‘Audiobook’ for the book type, but there’s no indication of that by the link.

Also, the Amazon JP link for 이상한 과자 가게 전천당 1 | L20 leads to the wrong book (I guess an ISBN mix-up) - can there be a way to flag errors like this, or should we just use the feedback button?

Fixed all these bugs! And for the furigana, the toggle is on the far right

That is already the case? However, right now you have to use amazon.com, not audible.com… could fix that pretty easily if that’s an issue.

Added along with your description from the other thread.

Yep, just submit a feedback request!

Thanks both for spotting all those bugs

Oh, also… @bibliothecary, I made a storytel for ebook providers too. I only mark them for Korean, not japanese.

I may write a nicer description for that later…

Another little bug: selecting ‘only favorites’ for Korean also shows Amazon JP, which I favourited for Japanese (as you can see, the heart isn’t filled in).

Fixing bugs must feel like playing whack-a-mole!

Indeed. And it’s a war that i’m losing :joy:

Ok that bug is fixed now too.
