noticed thids before but usually manually went back and would set the start page to zero but this time realized it happened again and maybe this can be found and fixed.
Clicking started reading on some books (no idea/why/which/ones) random, but sometimes it starts you at the end of the book and shows 100%
so today with this book marked it as set to reading:

So looking at that particular book for you, it seems that you marked it finished first? If that’s the case, then yes, we do automatically set the current page to the full page count.
If you’re asking if moving a book from ‘Finished’ → ‘Reading’ should reset the ‘current page’ to 0, the intended behavior is no. We do not wipe your current page.
We could certainly think about that but i’m a bit hesitent to wipe that data automatically.. I could see a case where someone reads a book, marks it ‘finished’ and then goes back, switches to ‘in progress’ to read some epilogue or apendices?

This has happened a few times with other books as well. Pretty sure I haven’t miss clicked. It usually happens when I finish one volume like I did yesterday and then go the series page to click the next vol in the series and set as reading.
So yes I finished vol7 but never finished vol8 - just started it and clicked - “set as reading”.
It has happened enough that I have suspected a bug before but I’m not that fast of a reader that it’s easy replicate. Suspect it might have to do with volumes that have been added to a series after the series was created or something like that.
Maybe I’m just an idiot and keep clicking the wrong button but pretty certain that isn’t the case. If this is the case going to the data manager somehow tell me I’ve done this (and as it stands it doesn’t). If you can see something in the DB then shouldn’t it have something with the reading session data? It doesn’t show up as finished in my tracking/activity either.
Maybe it’s my imagination and maybe it’s an accidental click on my part but don’t think so.

Just take a look see if there is something fishy going on. Going to fix this book and reset this book for now but if it happens again I’ll flag and report it.
Very interesting - really appreciate the context! The logs did say that it was marked finished somehow so perhaps there’s a path/ui which marks an item finished and then reset to reading?
was thinking about this a bit more (wonder if there is a way)
to query books (someones library?) marked finished reading but w/o any sessions recorded?
edit: more thoughts (for clarity)
specifically early on, not sure if the db shows when it was marked as finished? possibly the marked as finished happened a long time ago through some other goof, error, bug…adding to the library or something along those lines. possibly still something I did but w/o knowing when it was marked finished it’s hard to tell what happened. If it was marked as finished when it was added to the library by mistake (or bug) then clicking mark as reading would of course generate this result… hence my thoughts about being able to query as above.
