I only started following the natively forums again relatively recently. I don’t quite understand how book clubs function and what an “informal bookclub” is.
Looking at 🇯🇵 Index List of Book Clubs it seems there aren’t really general bookclubs that allow manga. It’s either light novel or genre.
Maybe we should restructure. Instead of a childrens book club, have a low beginner book club for the L18 to L26 (or so) range. That range was also stated in OP and would exclude some novels, such as Haruhi or Higurashi. But it would include manga and maybe some other works (such as more advanced graded readers?).
Then there could be an absolute beginner club (that wording sounds familiar, but it’s not in the bookclub index post), focused on sub L18. Works wild Pprobably graded readers, simple manga and picture books.
Maybe the new book club should even be multilingual.
Personally, I’m not really looking for easy works specifically. I just want to read 四つ子ぐらし.
