I ended up picking up 「家」 as a part of 激流三部曲 by 巴金. Simplified version for Pleco with 2000-word, supposedly also have audio files accessible by a URL.

I failed this one first half of the month, but I managed to finish 「家」 in about 1 month (= 23 chapters). Onward to the next in sequel.

It’s a simplified reading material, that I usually can finish in 1 session, or at least multiple microsessions in the same day. (To read is to accept have-no-time inconvenience sometimes, but tried to push through anyway.)
