Got through the intro portion in 24m (mostly on the Slow auto speed), and now onto 10/1. The choices already branch off starting at the end of 10/1 (After school). So I guess use this until you get to the end of school on Day 1, and if there’s other post-Yue that seems common

I totally missed that this flashback was about the dead girlfriend, when I read it… I guess maybe we explicitly learn that later? Or did I just overlook it?

Took me around the same time! Although for me it was a bit difficult to stay engaged through the endless “I have something to do” dialogue. I started to wonder if that’s the reason why Memories Off doesn’t seem as well beloved as other VNs from the time, because so far the writing is not really immersive to me lol

Hmm I also didn’t catch that it was stated yet? I thought we will still get that information later.

Btw if anyone’s playing the steam version, you open/close the menu via right click. And you can hook the game with agent

Ahh ok, wasn’t just me then. I was just confused bc the synopsis made it sound like this is what the start of the story would be - and then it seemed like it wasn’t there. So I was like “what happened to being sad over his ex??”

Not just me then. Good to know

well, memories off is extremely beloved, just not in western spheres bc of lack of translation. It has a billion entries in the series, it ended and was revived at least 2 times, had a for-girls spin off like tokimeki (which did not great tbf lol).

That said, that doesnt necessarily translate it to being good. As I haven’t played it no comment on the individual games quality from me.

Specifically the first game? Because I read the games vary quite a bit in terms of tone / quality, so I thought maybe the first game is just not as relevant…

I mean the series, no clue about the first game specifically, though I guess it was beloved enough to cause the rest.

I actually was going to nominate sorekara initially but I thought the first game might make more sense after all.

I finally started today. I had to turn the bgm volume way down because the voices are so low for some reason (playing steam version)

Honestly I really dislike the childhood friend who takes care of the mc trope but it’s super common in these type of straight vns so I’m not surprised. And we get two of them? And how does Ayaka have a route I wonder, maybe it’s the sort of thing that gets unlocked somehow

VNs - well JP games in general - are always like this, ime. It’s like the first thing I do, before I even start playing, these days :joy:

A mystery indeed

LOL, exactly the same instant reaction here. How is the audio mix this off by default? BGM to 2/10 and voices to 8/10 right away.

I guess I’ll join since there is no real time pressure here and I have already bought this game from some Spike Chunsoft sale, mostly because I so enjoyed Mages’ remake of ファミコン探偵倶楽部.

I’ve played some ときめきメモリアル earlier, and this seems to compete against that which one reaches the higher level of platonic ideal when it comes to school romance with 幼馴染. Still, it’s a great vocabulary workout – I’m playing this one completely without a text hooker as a challenge.
