Week 5, Ch 2 part 2
I don’t understand why he tries to hide being curious about the
area. Like, if she had just said “that kind of filth should be erased from existence”, then sure, but she just said she is curious about it. I would feel insulted in her place.
Clearly a pun on 怪獣8号 and, I guess, チェンソーマン. I have read some of the former and none of the latter but know of both thanks to my spouse reading those series.
She is making the assumption that he isn’t in it for the male lead, though
. More seriously, him liking this kind of manga doesn’t necessarily mean what she said. Since the manga focus on a single couple, it feel more natural that he would be interested in looking at typical social interactions, since he is at least nominally interested in those while never having any.
Still, his reply makes me feel like she was spot on.
Even if you just want to be friends and absolutely nothing more, that still feels rude
Kinda surprised she doesn’t like the idea of going to the game center, though. That sounds like the kind of stuff she would enjoy. (Also, did he just pay all the food himself? I thought they would split the check)
That makes me think of a horror movie called Troll 2, which has no connection with the original Troll movie, grew a cult following due to it being so bad it’s good and getting quite a few (non-official) sequels, including Troll 3, which manage to impressive feat of being related to neither Troll 1 or 2. Checking wikipedia, Troll 2 did get an official sequel (titled “under conTroll”) in 2019, though.
Still, there’s a bunch of horror film series that keep going for tax (evasion) purposes and probably even worse stuff, like money laundering.
あーん
Oh god no. It was only a few sentences, but that scene was really painful to watch read.
Wait hold on what. They are right behind him, so how are they reaching that judgement?? What does he look like?? I kinda skipped the color pages, but I vaguely remember that he was cute. When he said he is wearing only black with some English, is he actually wearing a Kurokuma cosplay or something? I mean, that would be amazing, actually, but I don’t expect random high schoolers to understand that.
Wait hold on again, that was not your plan from the start? Then what was your point in doing that あーん thing?
(playing house of the dead)
The great thing about this game (series) is that, if you are good at it, you can play for a fairly long time for cheap. I think a full run is 45 min or so. According to the internet, it depends on the version and route selection, but indeed, it takes between 30min and 1hour. If he ranked, that means he went all the way through, so that sure is a very cost efficient play. (The best I have ever done on one coin is beating the first boss before getting annihilated by the second level)
… but why. That guy sure is a mystery to me.
Err, no? Your social skill are indeed in the negative, I guess.

I took it more as a “you are an otaku and otakus like lewd stuff, therefore you like lewd stuff”. It is still wrong, though.
Yes. It’s just 気味, though, so it’s still mainstream, just not one of the most prominent stuff.
I don’t know if you meant that jokingly, but yes, that is a good use of the 呼び捨て (or lack thereof) for contrasting comedic purpose. Hence why the suffixes are in katakana.
I mean, the “risk” is being recognized, which is literally a non-issue, so it’s fine, I guess.
I mean, as an introvert, I do like to talk with friends. It’s just that it leaves me exhausted and I then have a be asocial for a while as I recover. Could be something similar for him.
Yeah, I also don’t really know. But, as I mentioned in my own comments, I just gave up on understanding the main character.
My initial thought was that she was hoping to start a rumor that she has a boyfriend, thus keeping guys who don’t know her from trying to date her… but I was wrong, I guess. Still, that was a very weird Batman gambit.
I didn’t think about it, but it kinda goes in the direction I thought: he doesn’t really care about being alone, he is just pretending to because his mother and social norms say the he should.
I mean, she already mentioned that she wanted to do it again, I think. So next time is almost sure to happen.
Yes, that’s what he says. I strongly disagree though.
Translating that in proper English would be hell, since the whole operative part has been left out on purpose. The literal translation would be “The reason why she let that happen/she is letting me do so [is …], probably.”
The closest I can manage in English would be “I guess there’s only one reason why she would let that happen”, where “guess” is here to replace the uncertainty of 多分, and “one reason” taking the place of the ellipsis, but it still sounds a bit stronger than the Japanese version.
My guess is that something™ will happen.
What no, absolutely not.
This week ends at 24% for Booklive, which means we are probably going to be generally synced with Kindle from there on.
