Give me a second and I’ll fix
I deeply regret saying that it’s gonna be easy to schedule because there are so many chapters ![]()

It should be fixed. The concerning jump in Junior pages had the explanation that I duplicated a chapter. Also the audiobook time was a bit longer.
The books are really nice!
Also just found out by opening the books and looking at the map that the Tearmoon country is shaped like a crescent moon ![]()
Okay, so I finished the reading for week 1 …

Oh man, you can’t use date formats like 04/05 on international sites like this. I was like “what you do you mean the book started on April 5th”.
One time I randomly got a craving for Vollkornbrot and went down to a specialty market to get some (I live in the U.S.). Was really confused for a solid minute about why all the loaves of bread were seemingly a month past their expiration date… I should have known better ![]()
wAIT-- (lol)
I hope to still see your comments when I get the thread up ![]()
Fixed! Thanks for pointing it out, and sorry for that (hopefully small) scare.
I forgot humanity has never agreed on a single thing, and I should be grateful we even have a shared calendar
The months are really confusing internationally… like, I am never sure if someone uses US dates or not unless the day is 13+, add to that summer time and time zones - and meetings across borders become a mess and a half. ![]()
That was my fault, sorry. Should have known better and that the “Starting” was not enough. Was trying to not make the topic any longer.
Not the first time at work I point out that an official document is expired due to the US date format ![]()
Yes, definitely! I just thought we were starting on Friday rather than Monday, so I was super ready and then I realized … nope. ![]()
Week 1 thread is up!
We’re reading chapters 1-5 (inclusive). See chapter 6? That’s the stopping point!
I want to focus on listening training this month for a change, so I figure I might as well listen to the audiobook while I read Tearmoon. Plus the free snippet of the audiobook sounds good! Where do you all get your Japanese audiobooks? Is Audible okay? I fear touching it because Amazon. Never used an audiobook before in any language.
Either way, hyped for the bookseries ![]()
I fear my physical books will be a couple of weeks late but I got digital ones ready!
OMG THANK YOU!!
I use audiobook.jp! They have an app and everything, I have no complaints.
You can remove DRM of the audible audiobooks quite easily and pop them in anything for listening. I’m just sad I can’t access the whole JP library.
And at least the last audiobook I good from audiobook.jp was actually
DRM free
without having to use any tools. I could just download the mp3 files, how nice is that?!
And you don’t need to jump through any “only works with some credit cards” or “needs (to fake) a Japanese address” hoops or whatever else Amazon is (sometimes?) doing.
It might be more expensive than Amazon though. Unless someone uses it for their first time, in which case they can use a cheaper ticket via a monthly subscription that they immediately cancel… at least I think that’s what I did back then ![]()
I’ve got the Audible JP subscription, which gives me access to everything I have ever looked up on Audible (read: ranobe audiobooks), so it’s a good deal.
But I don’t have the same obsession with DRM as everyone else seems to have. I’m fine with now owning books if it means I can listen to all the books I want for 3 months instead of owning-owning one audiobook (that’s ± where the prices are at). There is so much content I’d rather move to the next book than have that “chance to listen to it again when I’m not subscribed”. But that’s me.
Now, for your specific case: just get Audible JP trial. It’s free for 2 months (I think, it’ll tell you). You’ll be able to listen to this one in the book club pace no problem, and then you can make your decision. Be that buying it somewhere else, not buying it or starting 5 other audiobooks on Kindle while you’re on this trial.
That’s for ppl not using audible JP. Every other country has “buy an audiobook” instead of the subscription, in which case, I, too, deDRM them and save them somewhere. I do not trust amazon. However, if I buy a subscription, I know that it’s just a time-limited access to the content. audiobook.jp is a good alternative but I hate their UI and they don’t have as much as audible.
I wish I could sign up, but I’m always blue balled and never able to complete the process. None of my cards work.
Edit: as I said that, I was able to sign-up with a Visa. We will see if it stays after the trial period… which is when I think it failed.
Yeah, that’s the dreaded message.
I’m not a fan of Amazon, but this is not their fault, it’s the VA’s companies holding the rights hostage/region locked.
BTW Tearmoon is available on the international site. So, no need to go to JP
