美しい彼 🐥 아름다운 그 📷 Informal Book Club 📚

Would there be any potential interest in reading volume 2 as a club sometime in the new year? Pashmina’s updates kinda make me want to, haha. I think I’d be interested as a group, but less interested in reading it by myself.

I am definitely interested! I really like the relationship dynamics and am curious how the character development will be from here. I’m still taking the first volume rather slowly but I think I can manage to read it until next year (anyway I finished the drama CD so I know the story already).

This is probably random but I loved this single sentence so much

自分は家族の愛情には恵まれている。だから今まで耐えられたんだなと、いまさらわかった。

While reading I was actually initially surprised Hira had such a caring family. They’re not perfect, but I thought for a family in fiction they’re doing pretty well. I loved the part where Hira’s mom comes over unannounced and Kiyoi is like ‘oh well he can be actually a normal guy’. Kinda made me realize that Hira’s relationship to his family is kinda complex, as is his relationship to Kiyoi, as is Kiyoi’s relationship to him, or his parents. I’m probably thinking too much into it but I just liked the way the relationships are portrayed!

I finished the third volume and already started the fourth.

I liked the third volume, they made quite some progress in terms of character development. It is slow, but somehow that contributes to my attachment feeling to them. I kind of feel like a proud mother watching their babies go through hardships and fight their way through them. Again, the plot wasn’t super gripping but I think if you made it to this point, you’re more interested in the character dynamics.

Spoiler for the first chapters of volume 4

Having said that, the first scene fourth volume apparently wants me to set my expectations right by showing Hira in his one of his prime crazy obsessive delusion states :weary: Sitting in the dark, surrounded by candles and incense, meditating in the middle of the living room.

I felt bad for Kiyoi but his reaction also showed how much he’s used to it lmao (instead of arguing against Hira’s stupid God’s mistake logic he in the end chooses to ignore it and plainly tell Hira what he wants - what a development! I’m so proud of him! :joy:

It made me chuckle when Hira’s mom called and he did another one of his crazy Kiyoi monologues and she just glossed over it, it really shows how much his family is used to him being weird
