We have a tie between 裏世界ピクニック 1 and 美少年探偵団 きみだけに光かがやく暗黒星 講談社タイガ; normally I’d put up a tiebreaker poll, but would you guys instead be interested in trying a WK rule where, in a tie, the oldest-nominated book wins instead? 美少年探偵団 きみだけに光かがやく暗黒星 講談社タイガ would be our win in that case.

Sadly, I’m not interested in either of those, so whatever any of those who want to read should decide.
It’s been discussed to clean-up the list after this run, so I’d say vote again with new list?

I am biased since 美少年探偵団 was my nomination (edit: wait, it’s not?? I remember vividly nominating it somewhere, but not here then?)
It is my actually completely unbiased opinion that we should go with the oldest nomination.

For context, the WK reasoning for “earliest nomination wins in case of ties” is that a) it’s a nice impartial tiebreaker that can always be applied, b) there is a recency bias, so when older nominations finally win they have a slightly stronger claim, c) it skips the time necessary for a tiebreaker poll which could also become a tie and d) nobody can either game the system (“Haha let’s make a tie!”) or needs to feel guilty for accidentally making one and prolonging the process; there’s always a clear winner.

I like those reasons.
I vote for letting the older nomination win, but I also think we should definitely keep 裏世界ピクニック 1 on the nomination list, for next time.

All righty, I’m going to declare 美少年探偵団 as our winner! This was nominated all the way back in July 2023, so I’m glad to see it have its day! I don’t think @senkuma has been around for a while, so do we have a volunteer to run the club?
