Had the first of my JLPT prep sessions with my tutor today and there is definitely some stuff that’s tripping me up still. Passive, causative and passive-causative verb forms come to mind. And a few words/kanji I’m consistently mixing up.
Finished the final available volume of ちいかわ なんか小さくてかわいいやつ 7 | L16 ! Volume 8 is supposed to be out sometime in 2025 so… I guess they still have some time left.
And I finally finished アラベスク 第1部 1 <完全版 I> | L26?? which was interesting, but I think I would have enjoyed it more if I didn’t have to do so dang many look ups. So much performance and dance related vocab.
Currently reading ジゼルがくれた魔法の力 氷の上のプリンセス | L23 which is getting WAY more into how depressed this poor kid is about her dad’s death than I thought it would from the cover image.
Also trying to finish up the rest of シャンピニオンの魔女 2 | L26?? before the anime airs in January. This one is also pretty look up heavy, but less text dense than アラベスク. I gotta build up my fantasy vocab somehow, I guess.

Continuing to study for the N4. I am ready for the test to be over already. I’ve been doing test prep with my tutor and it makes me feel so tired after a full hour.
Feeling the burn out from JLPT prep right. Doesn’t help that I got the stomach flu over the weekend and I’m only just starting to feel normal again. My tutor was impressed with my kanji knowledge today.
I’ve been enjoying rewatching 美少女戦士セーラームーン | L23 more than I thought I would… I’m almost up to the rainbow crystals arc which is one of my favorite parts of the first season. Zoisite forever.
I’ll tally up all the books I’ve read after the JLPT…
At this point, there’s not a lot of time to cram, so it’s maybe not the worst thing in the world to do more things you actually enjoy with the language. I’m a little jealous of your SM rewatch.. I’ve been considering one for a while now.. maybe sometime soon.
Then I will keep talking about how much fun rewatching sailor moon is until you join me
JLPT Prep
I have my study list down to about 30 grammar points that I struggle with and a small selection of words/kanji that I consistently get mixed up. Also, I have one more study session with my tutor. Otherwise, I’m feeling pretty confident about my reading/listening skills. Doesn’t mean I won’t try to get in a couple more mock exam listening sessions, because knowing how the questions are formatted is really helpful.
I shall treat myself to some December manga madness after the exam.
