This is a pretty big one that I’m surprised hasn’t come up yet. I would like to hide my profile from non-users, including from search engines. I’m happy to have my profile public to all Natively users, but if you’re just browsing Natively without an account or you’re a search engine bot, I don’t really want my profile to be viewable.
I‘m wondering whether this shouldn’t actually be the default anyway? I think it’s fairly common to handle it this way.
I do agree. Whether requiring login is the only behavior, the default behavior (with a setting to make it the current way), or a new option (with the current way being the default setting) will be up to @brandon. I don’t know exactly how user profiles drives traffic to the site, but I have to imagine it’s not a large portion of overall search engine traffic.
Personally, I would make this the default with an option to make your profile public without login, in case people like to share their Natively profile on other social networking sites.

Makes sense! Agreed that the default should still be to show without login, so lets add a new option
so long as there is an option to remove it from the public doesn’t matter too much … but not all of us use social media and even go out of our way to avoid it altogether, thus some of us would prefer “off be the default”
