While I really enjoyed and appreciated being able to track the numerous NPO Tadoku graded readers, now that I’m far past that stage I kind of wish that my “read # books” number didn’t include all the graded readers and picture books I’ve read. My current number is at 84, and I feel like that makes it harder for me to get an idea of how the number of actual books (chapterbooks, manga, novels) I’ve read reflect my reading level.
I recognize that I could go and delete the records of the graded readers I’ve read, but that would be tedious and I kind of like having a record of all the reading I did do back then. Would it be possible to have a separate book count for graded readers & picture books, and a separate number for actual chapter books, manga, and novels?
Yes I was thinking about the top of the profile where the profile picture and the total read book count is. I feel like it makes me look as though I’ve read a lot of books, but most of them are graded readers. The stat page does have the breakdown, but at the top of the profile is most prominent and easy to see at a glance. Plus when other people visit my page I don’t want to give them a false impression that I’ve read far more books than I actually have
Just having the ability to select what counts as a book for your “total books” stats would be awesome. I know there’s a lot of folks who probably wouldn’t want textbooks counted, or manga.
I was about to respond to say the same thing! There are several books (both graded readers and children’s books) that I’ve read for group sessions helping lower-level learners, and I have them marked as read on my account so I have the ability to grade them, but I don’t necessarily want them in my final book count or part of my stats because they aren’t books I read towards making a personal learning goal.
A simple toggle for “Add this book to read books count” and/or “Use this book in user stats” would be a nice way around it.
