Run one big batch script to crosslink between different media forms of the same title on the whole dataset

Description of your request or bug report:

In the product request Crosslinking between different media forms of the same title, we obtained the possibility to link together related pieces of media as can be seen on the pages of 日本三國 S1 | L34 and ハリー・ポッター シリーズ | L28-31. However, this is always on-demand and the vast majority of the titles on LearnNatively do not feature a “Related” section. Most users are probably not even aware such a feature exists.

What I suggest is to replace the “whitelist” approach currently in use by a “blacklist” approach: run a batch script on the whole site to crosslink between different media forms by title (or by title + author, although that may miss most cases in Japanese because the names are typically written in Japanese characters for the book but in roman letters for the video, so we would be back to a situation with very little links).

In the majority of cases, linking everything with an identical title will have the expected effect and the user would no longer need to copy-paste the title and search it in another category to find its adaptation. The few oddballs and mistakes can be reported by users.

Often enough, the desire to correct things online is stronger than the desire to contribute new things online, so I think the “blacklist” approach is more constructive.

Rather than blindly running a script once and hoping users notice and report any mistakes, I think this would be a good candidate for an admin tool that runs on books/etc. as they’re added, and then asks librarians to confirm the relation group is correct and to properly name the relations (labels like “Original novel” and “Film Adaptation”).

It would create a lot of front-end work for us, and the groups would be rolled out gradually over time as librarians have the time to check them, but the quality of the resulting data on the user end would be much better. Then once the initial backlog of groups is tackled, it would be trivial to sort out relation groups for new items as they’re added to the site.
