I will but at the same time I don’t have any of these and might not be able to get them in time.
My Spanish level is still pretty low and quite rusty as I stopped shortly after starting Japanese. I do want to start learning it again though.

Edit: I might see if I can get an ebook of the winner and try just reading that way.

Should we go ahead and begin the nomination/voting process over again now that Ciudad is almost done? I know @Micki and @Belerith have been active throughout. I’m down to read another book myself.

We could! I would be down to read another book with you all in Spanish.
I have to say though that the pace we had at this level was the maximum I can do already. So if it’s a much more difficult book, I’d probably sit it out unless I was pretty interested in it.

I would like to have a couple weeks pause after finishing La Ciudad de las Bestias (I hope on Sunday!) before starting a new Spanish book though… I don’t mind sitting out the next pick if you want to start right away!

I also already own the other 2 book in the series @Micki ! I’ll want to read them at some point for sure. Even if we don’t read them as a club, I’m sure it’ll be fun to discuss a bit anyway.

Same here. I was making good time, but it was at the expense of reading far less intensively that I normally do.

I’m hoping for a break myself as well. Real life has been pretty busy lately, and I’m behind on basically everything. Maybe we could open up the vote on Aug 17 and start Sep 5?

I’ll try and join in the next book. I don’t have any grand plans for improving my Spanish, so am inclined towards easier reads that are enjoyable, rather than more challenging reads that are hard work.

Happy to read at a slower pace. Not in a rush to start the next book as I have a lot of other things on so happy to plan towards a September start.

I’d be down for reading another book, though I’m obviously still lagging behind with the last pick . My preference would also be something easy, because I want to keep up my Spanish, but I’ve had less time and energy lately just in general, so the easier the book is, the greater the odds I’ll be able to stick with the club. I’m also happy to read at a slower pace!

A September start would be nice for me because it would give me more time to finish La Ciudad de las Bestias, haha.

Whoops, I’m way past this date. Ah well, I’ve been so busy I wouldn’t have been able to read anyway. Tagging @Belerith @Micki @fallynleaf to check in!

I’ve been so busy, I haven’t been able to do any catching up on the previous club, so I’d probably have a tough time starting a new book soon anyway, sadly :smiling_face_with_tear:. But I might end up joining in late if everyone else wants to start another book before I have the time to read it!

I’m caught up with all my bookclubs so I’d be fine adding another - on the other hand, the past 2 weeks were so busy I didn’t get much other reading done, so I wouldn’t mind postponing until @fallynleaf is done with La Ciudad.

The Chronicles of Narnia are a popular series of children’s books written originally in English and published in the 1950s. They have been widely translated with a number of TV and film adaptations. The original and most famous book is “The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe”. Prince Caspian is the sequel to that book and was the second book published.

Modern series often place this as the fourth book in the series although there is lots of debate among fans of the best order for reading the books! Either way this should be fine as a standalone book, although I expect many people are familiar with the basic story of the first book.

For lower intermediates level learners, children’s books are often much more accessible than novels aimed at adults or young adults, but it can be hard to find children’s books that appeal to adult readers. I’ve read three of these books in Spanish and enjoyed them all. I think this could be a good fit for this club as it stands.

I’m not in any rush to start reading. I’m very happy to wait for @fallynleaf to be ready to join us.

An alternative might be to do a poll and not include the books fallynleaf nominated and they could join us for the next book? I guess that depends a bit on how they feel and how long they might want to spend finishing the first book.

If we are aiming at easier content then it looks like Sin noticias de Gurb is not a good fit now it has a Natively rating of 35. I’ve been thinking about nominations and decided to nominate the book above - it’s translated from English and a children’s book so it might not be everyone’s cup of tea!

I nearly nominated Invisible | L22?? , another children’s book, but it looks like it deals with quite a heavy topic severe bullying and I’m not sure it’s what I want to read right now.

More children’s books nominations is a great idea, I think!

I’ve been struggling in general with nominations and finding books originally written in Spanish. I took a photo of a Spanish language shelf in an American book shop in California, and virtually all the books were books translated into Spanish from other languages.

I asked a Spanish lady I met at work for a book recommendation for children’s books and she suggested Famous Five - translated from English!

I even tried googling in Spanish for “mejores libros para adolescentes” - the top hit was this - if which only around 3 were by Spanish authors!

PS - @eefara are you able to change the bookclub name now we’re not reading Bestias?
