As mentioned in other thread, I had read ahead as I’m traveling this week. Story is finally getting interesting
Can’t wait to read Week 8 next week when I return home. Hope everyone enjoyed this week’s story too.
I’m reading a bit ahead to, because Wanikani’s next ABC book is starting soon and the pacing for that one is a bit uneven, so reading both 眼球堂の殺人 and 六人の嘘つきな大学生 in parallel might be a bit hard for the first week (plus I’ve decided that right now is the good time to start immersing as a complete beginner in korean…).
But I agree it’s a good thing that things are heating up. I don’t buy for a second the “Kuroishi killed Nanbu and then committed suicide” theory, I don’t think anyone does, but I’m excited to see how things develop. This is veering into “And then there were none” territory
However, the writing is still, on the whole, pretty horrible. Did we really need the final pages after both Kuroshiki and Nanbu are found dead, on the uncertainty or lack thereof regarding each murder ?
I caught up on time this week! I too am glad things are getting interesting, and am joining the group of ‘no more of this author’s books’ The writing is useful from a vocab gathering perspective (I haven’t looked up this many words in a while!) but unfortunately it just feels overwritten, rather than an elegant use of wide vocabulary.
I’ve pretty much decided it’s either the butler (cause butler) or the lady who was staring out the window the other night. Maybe she’s actually the child of the dead architect This seems very much like a ‘motives will be whatever, figure it out from the trick’ mystery so I’m not too invested.
At the moment I’m still guessing it had something to do with the architect’s son though the butler is suspicious. I mean he still has the mood to prepare an elaborate dinner?
I initially thought that (and still kinda do) but a surprise! Different gender! Seems like something that could happen which is why I think the artist lady is sus it’s really not based on much beyond “well that might be entertaining”
At this point I’m reading a bit ahead of the club, and I had a look at the schedule… my heart sank when I saw how long the last 3 weeks are supposed to be
I cheated and searched my kindle edition. There is no instance of the word 息子 to be found anywhere. I guess we all assumed that a genius mathematician had to be male…
Moreover What is 造道 doing here ? She’s no specialist or anything… she’s an … editor who could be editing … a book… ザ・ブック…
Also, so far, she has done absolutely nothing and has spoken, maybe, 3 lines of dialogue; to the point that at times I even forget that there is such a character.
