Kinda starting to feel that this chapter is too draggy. How can the husband go off by himself and not walk together or take photos together?? This is their honeymoon trip.

I agree. I got some serious red flags from this dude.

Like I’m not saying that everyone who gets divorced is unable to commit in a later relationship, but if day 3 of your marriage causes this much handwringing, you might be in trouble…

I did like the older couple’s daughter being a lingerie designer, which considering the path of this book means 理沙 probably owns a pair of her blue knickers :joy:

You Will Never Guess Why This Is My Favorite Chapter

sorry for the click bait title :joy:
I’ve been making a 図鑑, basically a spreadsheet where I record every Japanese name of animal or plant or living thing I encounter, so needless to say, a chapter happening in a zoo, that made me really happy
This book’s contributions to my 図鑑 so far:

I went through the list and when I reached the part on the white cabbage butterfly, I suddenly thought of Animal Crossing. It’s one of my favorite games. Haha :joy:

Yes it’s also in there!! And that’s where I got the translated name from haha. (I even doubled checked that it was mentioned in this book, and that it wasn’t just me who typed the wrong source, since I did also put all the animals I got from Animal Crossing)

I very much enjoyed the part where Risa was reading CANVAS, the segment about Santa on a snowboard? :joy: Made me smile.

And the older couple were great. Although I know it’s not necessarily likely for this many people to have this many connections amongst each other, I appreciate that they do. And I guess maybe that’s part of the point? Like, how do you know that the sweet elderly couple you just met aren’t the parents of the lingerie-designer who made your wedding-day knickers? Have you checked?

I think that the handwringing had a lot to do with Risa’s own insecurities as well, but seriously, abandoning your wife on your honeymoon for more than 20 minutes because you got excited about the animals at the zoo? … Is not great.

100% agreed! I’ve found a few times in my life funny connections with people, always made me wonder how many funny connections there are with people around me, that I don’t know about!
