Hi, fellow Japanese learners.
I wanted to share my latest project, built to help with Japanese learning through immersion in anime (or other video content).
It’s free and open-source, made with the sole intention of helping fellow Japanese learners create high-quality Anki cards automatically from whatever they’re watching.
Input a video and subtitle file, and the app will:
- Finds words not in your Anki collection.
- Extracts screenshots and audio from the video.
- Finds definitions.
- Automatically creates beautiful new Anki cards (example attached).
Details:
Lapis card type recommended (also open source).
Works on single episodes or full series folders.
Free and open-source.
One-line installation.
Works on Windows/Linux/Mac.
Examples of Anki cards made with Anki Miner are on the GitHub page below.
If you’re interested, please check it out and tell me what you think. It’s free so no harm in trying it :).
Any issues/improvements welcome on GitHub page below.
Please reach out if you have any questions.
