August Listening Challenge 👂

Well with just over 2 hrs left to August, and 2.3 hrs of listening still needed, I’m calling it: I didn’t meet my goal of 50 hrs for August - but came pretty damn close! It was definitely a good push, since I wouldn’t have done this much on my own, and it got me to try out new things!

I’m setting my September goal to be 30/40/50 (meaning, if I reach 30, it becomes 40, etc). See y’all there!

I continued watching Sailor Moon, getting up through episode 33.
It took me until episode 30+ to realize that Jupiter’s attack was 「シュープリーム・サンダー 」and not 「シュークリーム・サンダー」. :see_no_evil: I have no idea why it would be called 「シュークリーム・サンダー」, but I honestly couldn’t hear it any other way until I checked the subtitles.
I had a bit of a goal to finish the first season of Sailor Moon by the end of the month, but that went out the window when I realized I had 2 days left to watch 13 episodes.

For the last 2 days I got incredibly lazy and just finished the first season of ゆるめいつ 3でぃ | L19 over the last two days, which totaled only around a half hour.

I only just hit my goal, ending the month with 50.6/50 hours.

I’m glad that I did this challenge, but I’m also glad that it’s over. It took a chunk out of my day that I am glad to get back for other things, including reading practice.

Overall, I don’t feel like I’ve grown a ton this month because I’ve already done plenty of listening before, so I am already past the easy gains and will need a lot more than 50 hours of listening to feel the progress.
I still feel like this challenge was worth it for me though because I still need a lot more listening practice and 50 hours is a definite push forward in total hours.

Nerds unite

I also recently wrote code to analyze subtitle files. Different goals again though: I was comparing the words/lines in the subtitles for different episodes/shows.

I guess a lot of people are looking at subtitle files recently.
