Okay, the poll is now closed! Unfortunately, turnout wasn’t great for this round, so I’d like to poll everyone on what we want to do going forward.
The first five volumes are currently free to read (until 8/8) on Renta and maybe somewhere else as well.
Edit: I stopped after 30 pages, it soon got boring. And I actually wonder, why there are so many volumes in this series.
Interesting. The anime was super cute, I wonder if they did a good job of picking and choosing from the many, many volumes to come up with the best narrative for it.
The problem are mostly the repetitions at the start of each chapter, the more so as the chapters are very short. In the anime they will have left them out of course, and it might be ok. It may also be ok, if you read just one chapter per day, but if you read more you might soon get nerved. Repetitions might get less in later chapters, but I didn‘t get there…
Looks like the first 5 volumes are currently free to read, but also on Kindle Unlimited, so I can pace myself on them a bit. Maybe I’ll try out a chapter a day and see if I can get past some of the beginning. I also struggled with 可愛いだけじゃない式守さん 1 | L18 for the same reason, despite loving the anime, so I’m a little sad to hear about this manga as well…
I’m going to call it now: we’ll pause for now, and see what interest in a new book looks like September 21! Thank you all for voting!

A japanese friend of a friend recommended it to me and I was surprised since it was so much cuter than I expected

I pretty much binged the whole series (in a couple of bursts) and I absolutely loved it. You indeed stopped before the repetition stopped (but it didn’t feel that bad to me to begin with anyway)
But anyway, I know remember that it’s this conversation that got me to read the free volumes (and then the rest), so thank you

Oh this author is so nice! When you get there, you’re in for a treat. She has a very heartwarming style 
Hmm. So we had 4 responders on the poll, which is 2 less people than voted in the previous book poll anyway. I’ll vote for another book, which is +1… Should we go ahead and go for another vote? I won’t put another poll for this, just want to hear people’s thoughts. Sorry for being wishy-washy; I just want to make sure that if we do go for another book, the interest is there.
Perhaps we could change the nom/voting process around a bit to accommodate fewer people? Something like only allow 5-6 nominations max, to try to keep votes from spreading around too much? Remove multiple votes and just let one person have one vote? What do you guys think?
I think that with this few people either we delay again or cut down the noms/votes to find something that we all really want to read.
I’m torn because one of my most recent favorite finds I wouldn’t have read without this club, but I’m also stretched pretty thin with all of my other clubs. I probably won’t read our next book unless it’s something I really want to read.

This club tends towards manga, which I never join, so take my opinion with a grain of salt. 
Might be best to either do informal bookclubs if there is a book someone really wants to read and 1 or more ppl want to join them or pause the club for now and maybe check in again in the new year? 
That’s a pretty reasonable suggestion as well. I feel like a few people (@shitsurei + others?) have mentioned that they’re mostly just looking at one or two specific books, so maybe the numbers will add up if we decide to go for an informal club?
Small plug: the current BL book club pick, 僕らの食卓 | L20, just started today and fits the 癒し系 theme to a T! So those looking for an 癒し系 read while we futz around trying to figure out a plan for this club, I highly recommend you check this manga out!
