So in a typical book club, the book is divided into sections and a schedule is drawn up to read a certain amount per week; each week gets its own discussion thread. An informal club could be scheduled, but the majority are not; they have one single thread for the entire book, and users post casually as they read through.
I wouldnât say that most donât allow manga, just that most follow a theme that makes it difficult to nominate manga. Glancing through, the only ones I really see that wouldnât really allow it are the two LN clubs and the æ©ç°éž club, though you could even make an argument for the LN ones if a group wanted to read the manga adaption of an LN. An idea was floated for a general manga club, but I imagine some work might need to be done to refine the concept. Mangaâs pretty broad, after all, and you wouldnât want to dilute your potential reader pool too much, given how many clubs are already running.
You might be thinking of the ABBC over on Wanikani.
I think most clubs are not opposed to having multilingual picks, there just arenât enough users in any language but Japanese at the moment for most to bring it up. Do nominate something if itâs got a Japanese/other language version and you think it fits, though!
