So in a typical book club, the book is divided into sections and a schedule is drawn up to read a certain amount per week; each week gets its own discussion thread. An informal club could be scheduled, but the majority are not; they have one single thread for the entire book, and users post casually as they read through.

I wouldn’t say that most don’t allow manga, just that most follow a theme that makes it difficult to nominate manga. Glancing through, the only ones I really see that wouldn’t really allow it are the two LN clubs and the 恩田陞 club, though you could even make an argument for the LN ones if a group wanted to read the manga adaption of an LN. An idea was floated for a general manga club, but I imagine some work might need to be done to refine the concept. Manga’s pretty broad, after all, and you wouldn’t want to dilute your potential reader pool too much, given how many clubs are already running.

You might be thinking of the ABBC over on Wanikani.

I think most clubs are not opposed to having multilingual picks, there just aren’t enough users in any language but Japanese at the moment for most to bring it up. Do nominate something if it’s got a Japanese/other language version and you think it fits, though!
