finished the main story tonight…
still have the bonus story and atogaki…but soon this hella hard book will be behind me…
even with being sick and so much happening… kind of lost about 2 weeks of reading… still managed to finish the main story within 12 weeks instead of the original 14 week schedule… in spite of the difficulty and my super slow pace…
While I did buy all vol up to 25, I won’t be picking up vol2 anytime soon… need to work on other LNs and manga for bingo… this really sucked up soooo much time…
I tend to just do that… books are cheap enough and given things go out of print or digital sometimes gets blocked or moved or whatnot from one service to another…
It’s easier to just pay now and have everything then to discover later you have to try to chase down whatever random vol in physical or digital that gets taken down or moved behind some stupid kindle only limited madness - people think it’s nutz until it happens to them as well… (it’s not as frequent, but no different from any streaming service removing a show you are watching)
I do want to continue this series at some point but my reading skills just aren’t strong enough to be able to read something this complex without a slow slog and struggling through everything… (which zaps any fun)
Just starting the bonus story last night and was like HUH WTH??? why is this so hard… … and it’s just that barrier of really really long sentences with multiple verbs modifying a single noun isn’t easy to process - then suddenly the topic marker and 5 more col of stuff to try to figure out which goes with what…
Combine all of that with complex/new vocab and my lameness in retaining all of this madness in my head… it’s dizzying… There is some upper particle per sentence limit my brain hits and short circuits
What I’m hoping though is that the next LN there will be see some noticeable improvement in retention/comprehension and faster speeds with easier stuff (at least I can hope) - especially after working through this one over 3 months.
Bonus 1… a LN bingo square will be filled in
Bonus no2…not ready for anything level 40s…but low 30s where there is another LN that I know is not going to be easy… I know I can finish in 3 months or so, even if I go slow…
I have bought the first three volumes of this series and started the second volume right after I finished the first one, but right now it is on hold because I want to read other (a bit easier) books.
Would be happy to join a bookclub thread for the second volume when more want to continue reading in a couple of weeks or months
The earlier volumes seem to be 50% off, the later a bit less.
Edit: Forgot to say: VPN needed as this is age-restricted. (Don’t forget to switch the VPN off after putting stuff in the basket to get the sweet, sweet tax savings.)
