We’re at the Finalé!

I never commented before but I technically read it with the book club. I do think this manga is good, but I guess it’s not for me. It took me a while to realize, but I think I just dislike the cupid stuff conceptually. Anytime they actually shoot someone, it feels like a violation of that persons free will. I mean at the end of the day, it’s part of the premise and something I just have to buy into but I can’t really suspend my disbelief for it.
I do agree that it is really stylish, the art and designs were my favorite thing about the manga.
Finished
I didn’t get into this manga much.
The last chapter was quite moving, but didn’t change that.
I actually think it might not be very good. Like it’s an interesting one-shot, but the mangaka lacks the experience to write a good longer work with such a unique premise. Honestly, I still don’t feel like I get what this is about and can’t imagine what happens in the next volume. Except a boring mission of the week.
It probably helps if you don’t believe in free will in the first place. I somewhat believe in free will, but still, this wasn’t a problem for me. I guess one problem I had is that I don’t find cupids very relatable.
End
You’re not the only one, seeing how the manga tanked in Japan. The manga was saved by a large amount of purchases from abroad, though, so some people like it).
Also, it’s established that it’s possible for the target to not fall in love if incompatible (compatibility was not explained though).
Also, it affects how people feel, not how the behave, so there’s no impact on free will, as far as I am concerned.
I am planning to read the next volume, though. Depending how it goes, I may stop there, though.

I still disagree, I mean I am not interested in the minitae of what consists of a free will violation. But, those girls wouldn’t have fallen in love if they weren’t shot by the cupids, and that’ rubs me the wrong way. It might not literally force you to act differently, but it makes you feel things that aren’t natural.
In the first chapter the girl who falls in love is barely a character, so it was whatever, but in Aki’s case it made me feel a bit gross.
The whole compability thing at least in this volume just feels like a throwaway line tbh, maybe it gets explored in later volumes. But like, it doesn’t really matter to why I dislike it. Even if it’s someone compatible to you, the feelings are induced by the cupids bullet.
Discussion!

Even if it’s someone compatible to you, the feelings are induced by the cupids bullet.
I guess I just don’t see the problem with that. How I feel is how I feel, it doesn’t really matter how I got there. I’ve fallen in love for random reasons in the past. For instance, I’ve fallen in love with a guy just because of the way he smiled while telling a silly joke (maybe not the most random thing, but it’s the only case I can remember where I clearly felt a before/after; there are more random things, but it would take longer to explain and it’s beside the point). If you told me “no, actually, it’s because a cupid shot you in the head at that exact moment”, I would just shrug (assuming I believed you at that point ).
