Well I ended up reading all of さよなら絵梨, BUT I also powdered through two chapters this evening since it sounds like there’s exciting plot over the next hill.
At least we got out of Frieda’s house today. Benno’s shrewdness always kinda cracks me up. He’s a good foil for Myne.
Every time I make some small complaint about the story someone says it’s addressed later, lol. I also have complaints about her ability to do seemingly everything diy. As someone who is ok at crochet, fairly proficient in knitting, cooking, and baking, and also just reads a lot, I don’t have a lot of faith in my abilities to just wing it without a pattern/recipe and modern technology. Let alone someone who only had book knowledge. But I also will patiently (?) wait
Woohoo! Hopefully you enjoy it and I don’t get a “what are you talking about, how was this entertaining??” message later, haha.
I really like Benno; he’s a good down-to-earth guy, comparatively speaking. He also doesn’t treat Myne like a small child, either although she really is one in spite of her physical age.
Ah, I forgot to mention: you’ve got this weekend to read without me as well; I’ll be visiting family and probably won’t have time to sit down and ignore them concentrate.
Just finished those two as my today’s reading and totally agree. I think my problem with a lot of the chapters in the books aren’t so much that I don’t care about making hairpins, but I don’t need to read an entire chapter about how so and so’s hair is this color, so we used this color thread. And last time we made four of these flowers, but this time we’ll do six. I think I’ve finally decided my problem with these books is they’re a lot of meetings that should have been emails. Or I suppose more literally, chapters that should have been paragraphs
ANYWAY, yes, way more of this!
I’m kinda tempted to read the next chapter too, but I have a ton of other book clubs I’m behind in so I’m going to attempt to catch up in at least one of them tonight.
Ah, enjoy your time with your meddling family! Last I checked you were about 50 or so pages ahead, so we might be around the same place come Monday.
The “meetings that should have been emails” feeling (i.e., bureaucracy ) continues throughout the series. I don’t mind it too much, but if it bothers you it’s worth knowing that it’s definitely not going away.
I think I want no one to confirm or deny my theory, but I want to put it here right now in case I’m right so I can say I figured it out in the middle of book 3.
My new theory is that Myne is in one of the books that fell on her (or I guess Urano). I don’t know how that ties up the rest of the pieces of the puzzle, but I will be on the lookout (Behind spoilers just in case I’m right).
