I read it as 이웃삼촌, and was like “but they’re girls??”
Oups, I forgot to look at the pages for this week (week 3) and ended up reading more by accident, so I’ll post my thoughts before I finish next week as well . As usual, it was hilarious. This actually reminds me of the time I similarly accidentally locked myself in a bathroom as a toddler, my grandma still rants about it to this day.
This scene below I found particularly funny. It’s definitely an intermediate grammar point however.
Week 3
I found this little bit so cute, and I could hear the onomatopoeia.
Love how kids being straighforward can be so… harsh?
Same! I may end up just reading it at my normal pace, as it’s hard to hold back…
Does anyone happen to know what’s going on with the series? Is it on hiatus? It’s been quite a few years since the latest volume was published…
I haven’t read this week yet, but since everyone seeming to read the book is wanting to go faster (myself included) we could move things along!
How about 2 chapters a week?
So week 3 (this week): chapters 2 & 3
Week 4: chapters 4 & 5
Week 5: chapters 6 & 7
If everyone is on board, I’ll update the schedule, and get to reading asap
I’d be happy with that, as long as you feel that it would be manageable for you!
I’m okay with it, I’ve been dedicating a lot of time to reading lately, it might as well be Yotsuba. When I came up with the schedule I had never attempted to read a book, and thought it would take me a lot longer to go through chapters, but now I have to keep myself from reading Yotsuba early in the week because I know I’ll want to read more
And on that note, I have a question about this chapter, but the app won’t let me screenshot, sorry about that.
I’m on page 75, where Yotsuba introduces herself to the 아줌마, and she says “요츠바야요”. Is that just her attempting to use 존댓말 and mixing it with 반말? Or am I missing something?
I’m pretty sure it’s just toddler speak. Similar thing with her using -슴미다, it’s not grammatically correct but still understandable, and really that’s all that matters considering her age.
If you specifically want to take a screenshot, you can do it through the web browser but yeah unfortunately the app won’t let you
That makes sense, thanks!
welcome to week 4!
I’ve updated the schedule, this week we are reading chapters 4 & 5.
As for last week’s: I love the three neighbours’ relationship. I’m always fascinated by siblings who seem to actually be friends, because that has never been my experience
And Yotsuba continues to win my heart with her eyes and snap decisions. Also, good on her for standing up for what she believes is right. Global warming is, indeed, wrong, you tell them Yotsuba
Guess who got caught up in life and didn’t do last week’s reading, after asking to speed things up!!
Anyway, for the folks reading along at home, we are now in week 5, final week.
I’ll share my thoughts when I’m all caught up, which should happen any day now.
That down there is a picture of me, my soul floating out of my body as insects fly around…
this is my walk of shame, hello
life was rocky in december so i kind of fell off the yotsuba wagon, but as repentance i read the entire book today, and made it on time for the original schedule
sorry again for disappearing like that!
my favourite scene was the look on yotsuba’s face when she marched over to her dad to ask him about his job. “i don’t know what my dad does, that will not do. i must demand answers”
book finished!! thank you for reading along and providing explanations!!
