If you browse by recently added and go back to the earliest books added, you can find a lot of those types of ‘publisher series’.

It seems like Yes24 groups a lot of books published by the same publisher into one series, even though they aren’t tied together by narrative or maybe difficulty level, such as 오늘의 젊은 작가 … does it make sense to keep these as series? Should they just be series but independent levels?

In regards to the publisher/series issue, I don’t have strong feelings either way. It could be argued the 오늘의 젊은 작가 series is tied together loosely by the theme of “new writers” (and the matching cover designs), so if you enjoyed one book, it’s easy to find similar ones… On the other hand, it can be misleading to group them as a series when they are standalone novels, and they’re less likely to show up in search results…

I think we may need to cap the number of volumes for this series populater, these yes24 series are a bit out of control

In other news, I’ve slightly changed the book submission process. Now, I always ask if the book is part of a series or not, regardless if I discover one on Yes24. Only once you check that box will you see if I did find one automatically… and then I will prompt you to double check it.

Basically, these Yes24 series are too much and often are just massive publisher collections. It may be a continuing problem, but hopefully these changes will help address it.

I don’t think brandon’s planning to split them any time soon - it might make sense to wait until Add publisher search and list filter is implemented.
