I unfortunately have to learn Korean because I’m addicted to webtoons and Kakao announced that they will be discontinuing the Taiwanese version of their app in 2025.
Now that Migaku’s KR parser update has been released (it’s not perfect, but so much better than it was ) I’ll start reading webtoons with an OCR software and hope for the best.
This was the first webtoon I read in Mandarin, and Migaku’s Korean parser just updated, so I decided to try reading it as my first thing in Korean, too. Unfortunately, the lack of kanji is really hurting me. Will be shelving the series until I read a few other easier things, first.

Solo leveling #1–28
( I didn’t take notes until chapter 26)
MC has just discovered the gap between him and S-rank dungeons, the overseas Bad Guy has just given us a 2-month timeline for when he comes for MC’s head, and the cultivation/progression is about to begin. Cool stuff!
This was one of the first things I read in Mandarin and I’m pleased to find that it’s similarly approachable in Korean, too.

Ch1 / First Impressions
Feeling a bit conflicted. In the beginning of the chapter I found myself feeling bad for MC, but he’s gone off and kinda made himself look like a douche. I guess maybe that’s a normal response, though; he’s apparently got issues with his family and has suddenly found himself in an incredibly traumatic/stressful place. Overwhelming.
I seem to recall finishing the story thinking quite positively of him, so he must make pretty decent growth throughout the series.
Funnily enough a lot of the more fantasy related words in 나 혼자만 레벨업 are hanja based, so knowing hanja and their associated pronunciation helps a lot. An example of that is 마석 (魔石) and 마수 (魔獸). You’ll find that same hanja in 마법 (魔法) as well.
