Krimi book club šŸ”Ž šŸ”Ŗ - Now voting!

Why did I only allow 3 options? :see_no_evil:

I tried to choose based on library availability, but what do you know, every book is available (not guaranteed to be available when we start reading of course…)

In any case, no nomination will be removed as of now. We will only address this ā€œproblemā€ when we actually have it - meaning, when our nominations threaten to be more than 20.

So funny - I looked at your post and was like ā€œoh how cool, omk posted a poll!ā€ and then I looked at the options and my brain went ā€œomg all the entries are in German! :scream: What’s going onnnnn :flushed:ā€ then I remembered the German Krimi book club

 On the other hand, I often forget what language I read something in, especially when it’s something short like a post or a book title. As long as it’s understandable, language is irrelevant. It’s harder not to notice with Japanese, but English vs German I would probably only notice if it gave me trouble.

Nice three-way tie we got there:

One more day till we have our runoff vote (unless there are last minute changes). I’m debating changing my vote to make it a 4-way tie for extra fun, but maybe not?

A couple hours ago we seemed to unexpectedly have one clear winner. Now we’re back to a 3-way tie. And votes are getting fewer…
Has the mystery started before we even begin reading?

   I decided to help get a clear winner by removing a vote, but I have no problem putting it back again

6 hours to go! I wonder if there are more last minute changes in store. This is exciting

We have a winner.

But also: Do I go and get the CD or do I go and get the physical book? No e-book or e-audio available. :sob:

(but first I need to locate my library card… it has vanished… :see_no_evil:)

Congratulations to Achtsam Morden!!! :tada:

Okay, two questions now. First off, when would you like to start reading?

Second, the book is 416 pages long. I don’t have a copy yet, but it seems to have 37 chapters, so roughly 10-12 pages per chapter maybe? How would you like our pacing to be?

  • 30-40 pages per week
  • 50-60 pages per week
  • 70-80 pages per week
  • 90-100 pages per week

Ah, and a third question. @nikoru , as the one who nominated it, would you like to host? Or shall I?

It’s available at Thalia: https://www.thalia.de/shop/home/artikeldetails/A1052812545
Download as EPUB, no DRM or anything (at least for other books that I bought there, don’t know for sure about this one).

I don’t think it would be fair for me to vote on this one :innocent:

Oh! Never really thought about that :woman_facepalming: I’m really loaded with work atm, so if you don’t mind, I’d be happy if you could host it! :bowing_woman:

At least on audible.de there ist also an audiobook available. I am still contemplating whether I gonna hear the audiobook or buy the (physical or digital) book

I think Biblio must have meant at the library, where it is indeed very popular. Otherwise it’s available in every (e)book store there is.

Aha! I think I want to buy from Thalia and support them! No drm is such a rare beast!

No problem at all

Actually I think most members here are either native or near fluent at reading, at least for now, so it would be totally fair for you to vote, and for everyone else to vote. If someone really needs a slower pacing, please say so! We’ll try to accommodate everyone as much as possible.

let me correct that: No e-book or e-audio via my library. :sob:

I simply chose ALL the answers.

It’s a great book! I already read it not quite long enough ago to have another go at it, but I’m looking forward to the discussion!

…also if anyone wants to continue the series after the club, I haven’t read the other books yet. :eyes:

Aaaaah gotcha, sorry!

It is, right? Although it seems that for technical/software development books it is rather the standard to have DRM-free epub’s, so coming from there I was rather shocked to learn about the DRMed world of fiction…

I think I will close the polls on Monday, so if anyone has strong opinions about pacing or start date and hasn’t voted yet, this is the time to do so!

We have a tie on both the starting date and the pacing. New polls for final decision here.
