In the off chance この素晴らしい世界に祝福を! wins, I will try my best to join.
I’ve been putting off going with the Japanese series for that for so long, and I went in quite far in the English before starting reading natively. I have the physical and the ebooks too, so I would be set.
At some point, I wanted to jump the original and also part of me didn’t want to finish the series as I don’t want it in my mind to end.
I really enjoyed the novels, you have more details that get lost in the anime, but I was so invested in it that I struggled sometimes to know if some event came from the novels or the anime.
If I recall correctly Kazuma is more unhinged which I enjoyed.
I guess that speaks good for both the original and the adaptation.
Gotcha, thx. I’m thinking about it more, and I don’t think my enjoyment of the story would really be enhanced by additional details. So I’ll stick with my current votes.
NP! I wish I was a better seller as I seem to have very bad luck with polls for book clubs in the past
I would say more than the additional details on the light novel, would be able to take the story further, or have more of the story. Which should be partially solved with the season announcement, and it would have to be a permanent club anyway to get further than what has been aired.
I’m surprised there seems to be no WK club for that series.
I think the reason is that most WK book clubs are from one of the major book clubs: Absolute Beginner, Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced Book Club. In this case it would be Intermediate Book Club level, but there are barely any LNs read there - most of its picks are novels, and the Ecchi tag would make a win even less likely.
That’s what multiple book clubs are for. E.g. the Intermediate Book Club also barely reads mangas, so an Intermediate Manga Club was spawned and has been pretty successful. It’s just that WK doesn’t currently have any general LN book clubs that I know of.
I mean you’re talking to someone who enjoyed but didn’t finish the first season of the anime. Hard sell in the first place. Bye if you want advice, providing examples of what kind of extra details you get would be helpful
Then again the fact that it’s L31 fantasy (rather then 34+) has some appeal
As someone who stopped reading after 3 volumes (that I only got based on name recognition and the fact they were dirt cheap), I can’t really recommend the series itself, but I can confirm it’s an easy read (L29 as of now).
I’ve already read 浅草ばけもの甘味祓い and おこぼれ姫と円卓の騎士, but I will comment on the threads for both if they win! Otherwise, I’ve restricted my voting to books I own or already have on my wishlist, for the sake of my 積読
If Kono Suba doesn’t win for this time round, but you would still be interested in a book club for it (either here or on WK) please let me know. I love the anime and have wanted to read the light novels for a while.
While it has a decent amount of votes, we had this sort of “problem” before. People that voted doesn’t mean they would jump into one club of that series.
Either they would have voted for other options and don’t want to join two clubs, or are fine going with the winner.
Sadly I think the best option is to go with the flow, although if a book club of the series happens at some time and I miss it, do let me know.
Nominated by @Biblio in 2024. Now I’ve seen in the poll a clausule that if participation was low it would be postpone, but no specific number was given. So will this be a Yes/No separate participation poll, or going forward with the current voters @eefara ?
