Product Updates & Casual Natively Discussion

I just did a pile of gradings on 奥羽の二人 | L38?? but none of them have shown up on the page… Also I moved it to the finished state but the book page still says “(1 reading)” rather than “(1 finished)”.

Thanks for the note! Yeah there was a page cache issue, which I resolved for this one for you. This has been hitting a few issues here I think (tags issues, some review issues), will hopefully resolve soon.

Seems like a hard book!

Thanks! Yep, it was pretty difficult, so it sat on my half-read pile for a long time. I’m probably going to write a review in a bit talking about some of the ways in which it’s hard…

Any chance of adding a second line to titles on the search page, or otherwise adjusting the tiles to fit more text?

The tiles currently fit max 8 full-width characters, so pretty much any results with more than 2 words in the title (or in Japanese, anything spelled out in kana) are truncated, when that’s the most important information about the book.

An author name with and without space are being detected as different authors, becoming Various authors. (Also, aren’t titles with and without space redundant?)

Also, if I click on book #2 on the page of book #1 of ルリドラゴン, I get an application error (iPad Safari). Maybe as it is not yet approved?

This issue has been hanging around for a while @brandon; are there any plans to move the site one way or another?

Vol 2 works fine for me, and Not Approved Yet just means it doesn’t show up in searches/feeds yet. Shouldn’t generate an error.

You might want to just use the feedback from for the book, but the variant author names is a general known issue

with spaces is definitely preferred! If there are spaces it means we can allow searches where the first & last name are swapped.

There’s going to need to be some database work to bring all the authors in line, though; is that on the planning board?

I’m not sure if this is a result of the site upgrade or not @brandon, so I’ll post my bug report here: I wrote a review today for a book I marked as read in 2021. The review written date says December 31, 2022, which matches none of those dates.

Edit: same with this review. Freshly-written today and marked as read in 2019, but the review date’s the same Dec 31, 2022.

I know that the forums are still being reported as malicious or phishing by at least some providers (I know @soggyboy at least is blocked via one route they typically use to visit here) so I decided to go poking.

@brandon as there’s a step you’d have to take a domain owner for one of these, assuming it’s not something you’ve done already

Poking

Url scan for the forums - this was something recommended on the Akamai support forums, which is where I went looking at Akamai seems to be one of the providers blocking Natively.

I screenshot the relevant result as I don’t know how long that link is valid for:

It looks like I can, if I register for an account and wait a month, submit a report about the report but it’s also not clear if any action would be taken.

So, more digging brought me to this: https://search.google.com/search-console/about which is referenced in this reddit thread by someone having a similar issue:

Screenshot again, because links die

Tbh given it’s specifically Amazon phishing, I kind of wonder if there is a malformed URL somewhere that triggered this  But anyhow the second link I gave I can’t do - you’d have to as the domain owner. I recall that you already reported something to Google at some point, was this the tool you used?

Yep, both the forums and the main site have been blocked as malicious since… March? Something like that.

Really!?! I thought we fixed these issues :weary:

What does Phishing against Amazon even mean??

So I can do this but it seems to be related to chrome specific errors. Is it chrome specific @soggyboy?

For the record, it’s been fine for me.

I assume it means suspected phishing for Amazon accounts. That’s why I said there might be a malformed URL somewhere. I didn’t see much more concrete info last night when poking around sadly

Maybe because there’s a lot of traffic from both the page and the forums to Amazon? It doesn’t feel like a ton more than other pages with affiliate links but :woman_shrugging:t4:

For the record it has also been good for me, but a friend of mine who I told about the site couldn’t access it. But that was a few months ago and I haven’t really checked in with her about it lately.

Looks like no, it was blocked on both Firefox and Chrome. The error I’m getting is from Akamai

Got this both for the forums and the main site.

I also get a phishing warning for the forums using Avast antivirus, but not the main site. It only started yesterday, though, so either something new was added to the forum, or something changed in Avast’s definitions.

Looks like Avast has a straight forward procedure for reporting false positives: Submitting Suspected False Positives

Akamai has a procedure too, but as far as I can tell you have to be using Akamai and an admin to report it
