Reading Exchange Thread

If there is already this kind of thread please tell me but since I didn’t find anything when I searched I currently assume there isn’t…

I thought it’ll be nice if there are people who want to try doing a “reading exchange” with each other.

As in (e.g.); you recommend something for me to read and I recommend something for you to read and we update each other on how it’s going and our thoughts or something like that

  1. What genres/themes I would prefer to read
  2. What genres/themes I don’t like to read
  3. Things/themes I’m not comfortable reading about at all
  4. Highest difficulty level I’m okay with receiving
  5. An example to something I loved reading

This is a good idea but you should make a form or something for people to fill out to join about their taste in books so that their partner will have an idea of the kind of stuff they’re into.

I honestly thought people could just specify what they’re bad with/prefer reading manually, I guess a form works? :thinking:
give me 5 min and I’ll make something up, edit the initial message and add there :joy:

Is this supposed to work in pairs only, or is can it be a more general “seeking recommendations” thing?
In any case, I like the idea! :+1:

I’d change the thread title though. I was looking at “reaching exchange” for the longest time trying to work out what it might be. :sweat_smile:

So using myself as a form example

I like a good parody that doesn’t feel like the humor has taken over the plot
I’m not that good with school life
There aren’t particularly any taboo subjects for me reading wise
The highest Level I’m comfortable with right now is 33 (includes the struggling for entire paragraphs :joy:)

Examples for mangas I really liked are ババンババンバンバンパイア , スーパーの裏でヤニ吸うふたり, 乙女怪獣キャラメリゼ, 光が死んだ夏

I’m guessing both? I was hoping for pairs but it can work really well for recommendations too, something along the line of “not looking for an exchange but I can recommend you X which really fits your tastes”

As far as I know we don’t have a Looking for Recommendations thread. For example I’m currently on the lookout for something to read with a specific feel. Do you think it would make sense to ask for recommendations in this thread (without the exchange element), or would it be better to open a new one specifically for seeking recommendations?

I keep thinking about that very thing. Last time, I asked for recommendations in the “what should I read next” thread, but that’s not really the point of that thread either.
