I’m really weirdly attracted to reading / watching villain-centered stories, villain origin stories, stories centered around generally good people who become evil, things like that. I’m not sure if that’s specific enough, but do you guys have any recommendations for that vibe?

A kind-of-sort-of one that I really liked was Iron Widow. Outside of books a super clear example of the vibe I like is Breaking Bad / Better Call Saul.

This series fits the bill. Although it’s aimed for children I did enjoy it, but it might not be for everyone.

I can second Iron Widow. It’s very YA though (but the kind of angry YA where you burn down a house on your way out of town)

tbh my automatic thought is the popular entries (can’t actually remember other things, might update later when I do)
so overlord (questionable kind of good but did start as “good-ish”) and Attack on Titan are the popular entries to this criteria
another popular entry I remembered; Code Geass
speaking of mecha, ALDNOAH.ZERO has a good guy turned bad whom is very MC-ish but is not the MC MC
personally I feel like Guilty Crown can also enter the criteria if I’m already mentioning ALDNOAH.ZERO

the anime for Dragon Dogma, it’s a newer 3d animation kind of style and the themes are really nsfw but I honestly recommend

I sort of like the opposite which is bad people turning good. So lots of villainess manga (tearmoon empire etc) and such. I’m sure if I rack my brains I can come up with something more suited for this topic though.

Oh, Black Lagoon is a world full of just absolute rat bastards, including the protagonist crew.
My Hero Academia has an arc focused around the villains.
Teppu’s protagonist would probably be the rival in any other sports manga.

just remembered another one (an anime)
this is a spin off and it’s technically about a villain/villain organization in another series, practically speaking it’s more of an anti-hero group tbh so it’s a bit different I guess?
