The site allows you to write a review for a book you don’t own. @brandon said in the other thread that this is supposed to auto mark the book as finished when you submit the review, but it doesn’t. As a result the site gets confused – everybody else can see the review, but when the review author looks at the book page they don’t see it, but instead a “Write your review” button.
This has happened to me twice now; the most recent is Essential Japanese: An Introduction to the Standard Colloquial Language | L5 . You can get out of the weird state by manually marking the book as finished, at which point you can see your review.
