I just realized that while there’s a great thread like this over in the Japanese section, we don’t have one here! Or at least not one that’s not exclusively for Webtoons.
Considering one of this year’s bingo prompts pertains specifically to seeking a rec, this seems like a necessity! And a great way to find new books to read as well .
This is a place to find new books to read, come to when you’re torn between a few books for you next read, etc.
I’ll go first. Any YA novel recs? I love a mystery element (I’ve really enjoyed 세계를 건너 너에게 갈게 | L22, 죽이고 싶은 아이 | L26 and 보라색 치마를 입은 여자 | L27), but I’d say I’m really open to anything, unless it’s too romance focused.
I should be fine with anything under L30 (although I’m looking forward to being able to read harder novels soon ).
I haven’t read it myself, but I know many readers enjoyed 당연하게도 나는 너를 | L24, so that may be an option? It’s by the same author as 죽이고 싶은 아이 | L26, so the difficulty is most likely comparable!
strongly rec 소리를 삼킨 소년 the writing is pretty straightforward and the story revolves around a kid who witnesses a crime and then does his own investigation to find the perpetraitor. 울고 싶은 나는 고양이 가면을 쓴다 also easy and has a bit of an adventure element to it towards the end. not a mystery per se but the main character turns into a cat and has to figure out how to turn back.
Definitely something I’ve been eyeing! I’ve actually just ordered it, just waiting for it to come from Korea now, since I couldn’t find a retailer in Europe that sold it directly. It’ll probably take a few months to get here.
Ohhh interesting! I’ve been wanting to read it as well since I saw it floating around on Natively. Probably gonna read it soon then, with the ebook and audiobook since it’s on Storytel.
I hadn’t heard of that one, but thanks for the rec, I’ll check it out!
