September 2025 Listening Challenge

I also usually don’t do reading for the first hour or so that I’m awake. My wake up time varies, anywhere btwn 2.5 hrs before work to 10 min before work  but usually like 1.5 hrs probably. (I work remote tho)

I’m usually up 1.5 hours before work, for context; on days I don’t need to go into the office, that gives me half an hour/forty minutes in the morning to get ready for the day and about an hour/maybe a little under for pre-work activities.

Yes, they do have a sizeable amount of lines. Aside from 京都弁, one of the shop regulars in particular has a strong 大阪弁 accent.

Interesting that there’s both! I’m drowning in reading & listening material rn, but will keep in mind for the future

October 2025 Listening Challenge is up! I even remembered to make it a wiki from the start :joy:

I started off pretty rough in the first week, but I finished strong. I’ve now reached a total of 400 hours of Spanish input. As planned, I wrapped up all the free intermediate videos on Dreaming Spanish and moved on to some advanced ones. I usually stick to the videos with a Spanish accent, but whenever I got bored, I mixed things up with some beginner and intermediate Latin American videos too.

I have to admit, I got a bit lazy with native content—I only managed to watch one movie and 11 episodes of a kids’ TV show.

One thing I realized after finishing this challenge is how amazing it feels to notice real progress. I feel much more comfortable now with intermediate and even advanced videos. It’s not always easy to see improvement when you’re learning through comprehensible input, but those moments when you suddenly understand more words or feel more at ease with the content are just fantastic.

Just barely made my 30 hours for the month!

…I really need to stop skipping days, I’m not a fan of suddenly realizing I need to listen to 2+ hours a day to catch up. @.@ I also miss hitting my stretch goals.
