Nice! Thank you!
That looks fun!
be careful when you post comments like this, another book club might rise up
Honestly I’m not very good with book clubs lately, so I’d probably read it on my own regardless.
Starting a Gender Expansive Book Club is tempting, but…I don’t think I have the organizational skills to pull it off.
Does anyone know of any manga about (or featuring) 海女?
Maybe あまんちゅ! (series) | L22? It’s by the same mangaka who made Aria, though I haven’t read this series myself. The descriptions on Amazon and AniList doesn’t mention the stuff I see about 海女 in the dictionary about collecting shellfish and seaweed and stuff (if you were going for that specifically and not just a simple “female diver” gloss), but あま is in the title, so there’s a chance!
There’s (at least) one in 7SEEDS (series) | L27 but her role is really minor so far (I read up to volume 12)
(Like, she dives once in all that)
Oh look… another artist I gotta follow/manga I need to buy
What would be the best book to read if I liked 人間失格? It can be novel or manga. N2 level+
What did you like about the book specifically?
I really like the ideas mentioned throughout the story and how there is always something going on.
also I will add how I like the perspective it is narrated from. thank you
I just started reading 彼女が言わなかったすべてのこと | L30?? and I’m not sure if it’s going to turn into a romance, but the main character is undergoing treatment for breast cancer and in one of the early scenes she goes to the hospital for chemotherapy.
so I found a BL Gender Bender + includes 魔法少女 and remembered this post again
To add further… (haven’t read these yet though, so can’t be 100%):
Waiting for a magical girl/boy/middle-aged man book club please and thank you
I always confuse 少女革命ウテナ 1 | L23 with ベルサイユのばら - haven’t read either but old shoujo + gender bending + roses…
Does ベルサイユのばら have lots of implied incest and a story that gets progressively more insane as you go along…?
I vaguely remember this youtube video saying something like if a man wants to understand women he should read this series. And I think it’s the one Naphthalene is reading right now unless there is some other shoujo manga about French history (not unlikely tbh)
Does anyone have any recs for manga or novels like 伊藤 潤二 books. I find that I like his artwork and sometimes his stories, but I think I am looking for something a little more advanced that really challenges me with my Japanese. I think I am looking for more of a creepy/thriller style book rather than just horror.
