Hello, I just learned about Natively and joined here today! I live in Vancouver, BC, and ideally was looking for a local course that uses Tobira but I think I will try to look online now. Does anyone know of any online courses that will start from the beginning of Tobira? I would gladly join that course! I have the July 2009 edition. I covered a couple of the later chapters when I joined a course several years back late. But I want to start from the beginning, I really enjoyed the text. Any advice would be much appreciated. 宜しくおねがいします。
Welcome!
Idk about a close, but you may find this thread of interest:
Unless you’re specifically interested in a classroom seeing, I’d suggest using italki.com - you’ll get more personalized instruction, probably for cheaper, and there’s definitely teachers who will go through Tobira with you
Thank you so much! ![]()
Oh I think that one I thought only about the intermediate textbook when I created it, forgot there was a beginner series too … But as of now it’s a pretty loose study thread so I guess it can still be used for questions and check ins.
That‘s ok, the 2009 edition is the intermediate textbook, the beginner ones were published 2021 and later.
Rightttt I just read “beginning of Tobira” and my brain made some hops ![]()
Thanks again. The one place that I know used to offer a Tobira class in Seattle, WA now apparently stopped it. Sigh. Well, and someone probably already posted about this so apologies for the duplication, but there are resources I could use to just go it alone (link follows), though it would be great/much better to learn from the text in a group setting with a teacher where there could be interaction with others, at least that is how I seem to learn best. I study on my own and then practice and am like, Wow all that studying alone did not sink in. Tobira Exercises | Tobira Study Resources
