Chapter 18

Las bestias save the day! And Ariosto meets his end. I liked the description of his sudden incapacitation by the stink of the beasts. It was a bit worrying for a while that everyone had been wiped out, but we knew that wasn’t how it was going to end!

Alex seems to have achieved his mission of protecting the tribe. It can’t be easy to persuade a journalist not to report on such big news as the beasts, but Alex looks like he had persuaded her. In the end the beasts have protected the group from the soldiers, and the Kate and Alex look like they will protect them in return.

Jaguar seemed like a cool name when Alex was with the tribe. It seems a bit less cool after his grandma teases him about it!

I know this is a trilogy but I’m interested to see how much gets wrapped up in this volume, and how much will be left hanging.

:joy: Indeed, haha. Fitting for the jungle, an American city? Maybe not.

That was a lot of wrap up! I actually read much more today than I thought I would and finished the chapter. I was hoping things would be a bit less wrapped up even… So I’m sure hoping the last chapter will still leave us with some loose ends. The next 2 books on my shelf say yes to that though.

I’ve not often been so glad to see someone get their just dessert as I was with Ariosto here. I think that means this was some solid writing.
