  • Any reveals, for the current chapters must be behind spoilers or detail curtains. When we get further in you don’t need to hide details that were revealed in previous chapters.
  • Questions on vocab, grammar, nuance, and the like are both welcome and encouraged. If you’re not sure if it’s a spoiler, assume it is and use one of the above options to hide the text.
  • You are encouraged to speculate and guess wildly
  • Be kind about other peoples’ wild guesses :sparkling_heart:
  • Even if you don’t read the chapter(s) in time, you are still encouraged to post in the thread for that reading once you have finished it. I advise not reading ahead in the threads as you may see spoilers.

To gauge participation - a poll!

I’m at 15% and I have some questions

How does the hallway window open? Is it sliding from floor to chest height level?

And where in the hallway were they at?

The pace of this is really slow. Nothing has happened even though it’s 1/5 of the book.

Only つつ and やれやれ which I hear in Jotaro’s voice in my head keep me going. I need action I need killings :sob:

I totally skimmed that part but in my head it was like sliding open at chest level yeah, cause they had to lean over dangerously to look down. I noted in my book during that part ‘these windows are going to be part of a murder or part of how a murder is made to look impossible’. I also think the same of all these double doors and the dizzying-seeming layout.

For me this feels like a pretty normal pace  We only just got most of the cast, and not even met the architect yet. I would imagine the first murder to be at earliest during dinner, but likely during the overnight hours if this follows a typical course. I’m curious what forms the murders will take though, and also if everyone who got a nasty letter is slated to die in some way related to how they are disliked by the homeowner

Yes, I’m also thinking those nasty letters are hints. But then again it would be too easy if those are hints on who will die and who will not. :face_with_hand_over_mouth:

Finally finished! For me this week was a bit boring: lots of character introductions, lots of talking about the door and nothing to contribute to the plot. But again, we’re just in the beginning, hopefully we’ll get more action soon.

Finished week 2 today

The way I read it is that it slides open from the floor to chest height, yes. Which means the lower half of the wall is open, with a 10 meter drop next to it, and no way to go down there in case something (or someone ) falls down. Sounds like the perfect murder contraption to me ^^

For the murder(s) itself, my guess is that our host the professor will be murdered, probably around or after dinner. Almost everybody got a rude letter or has some other grudge, so everybody is suspicious. We our narrator the freewriter will then spend the rest of the book sorting out the culprit.
