At the same time you donāt get the usernames hover any more when hovering over the avatars in the āstandardā polls
Noticed that already a few weeks ago on WK but I thought that WK had hiccupāed with the forums - now it seems that the update landed here as well. This change is very very unhelpful in my opinionā¦
This is a ranked poll, I believe. So 1 is your top choice, 2 is your second favorite choice, etc. You can only use one number once, otherwise it wonāt let you submit.
But I must say I find the interface highly unintuitive without detailed explanations I imagined I should select a number based on how much I like the options.
If this is truly ranked voting, it works like this:
Count up all the #1 rank votes
If one option has a majority, it wins (plurality does not count)
If one option does not have a majority, eliminate the option with the lowest number of votes
Count up all the #1 rank votes, except if the #1 rank vote for a user was eliminated, in which case count their #2 rank votes
Repeat above steps until a majority is found
The first round works like a normal single vote system (using everyoneās rank 1 choice), and each subsequent round takes place after one option has been eliminated. In the real world, this type of voting system attempts to reduce ālesser of two evilsā voting that locks in a two party system because people think voting for a third party candidate that has no chance of winning is āwastedā. Now you can vote for a third party candidate as rank 1 and know that if/when they get eliminated you still get to vote for one of the two main candidates. Itās done via a ranked voting instead of run-offs to make the process more efficient.
What would determine a round in this case? Would I need to manually close the poll? Would it kick in only if someone sets an end date? You may not know, of course; just wanted to put the questions out there.
One of the cycles @seanblue mentioned (counting everyone top options). It doesnāt kick in here since 4 out of 5 people selected fantasy (so it won on the first round)
