I’m sure I already edited a book to add a number of page it has. But I can’t find the option to do that again. It is possible ?
Yes, there are several ways:
-
On your dashboard, when you click the Update button for a book, you can modify the total number of pages with the pencil icon:
(It’s beside that 373.) -
When you have the Basic Info menu open, you can also modify it there.
You can also click the Provide Feedback button on a book’s page if it’s missing a page count and have Brandon add it if you have the number handy; that way people in the future will have it at their fingertips too!
Where does it pull the page numbers from? I found that they wildly differ for a lot of books I had from Amazon.
Should be from the Amazon page itself; I don’t know if his automation prefers taking from physical vs. digital or just takes it from the format the link you provide is in (so if you submit a Kindle link, it pulls from the Kindle page).
I have definitely noticed some variation in Amazon page counts between physical and digital of the same book; I typically default to physical in that case. Occasionally I’ll see something way off (e.g. 1 page for a light novel), but usually they’ll only differ a little if I have a personal physical copy to check against.
Ah I see, makes sense. I was looking at interlude 美しい彼番外編集 | L30 where there’s almost 40 pages difference between digital and physical. I wonder if they calculated something weird or if there is like a bonus chapter missing.
Some bookwalker manga I had also seemed to differ slightly (though it was more like in the range of up to 10 pages) which I guess makes sense if it’s from physical (do Japanese manga have these promotional pages like localized manga do?). I mean manga should have relatively fixed pages right?
The current pick of the BL book club has ebook only bonus pages.
Righttt, I even mentioned them for the novel but totally forgot about those in manga . Guess it’s even more wild there with different bonuses sometimes for different publishers.
Interesting. I wonder if the Kindle page count is counting as if the book were in tankobon format and not bunko?
Some do. Also digital gets sides of the dust jacket cover + the inner covers, and might also have the flaps of the dust jacket or something
