Yuri/GL/wlw book club - Reading 付き合ってあげてもいいかな 6th July

Can you put a link to the current nominations in the first post? I see links for nominations on cooldown or can be re-added, but not the actual list of current nominatinos.

You could always put this information directly in the first post. That’s what I’ve seen most book clubs do.

I did that at first but it got messy when I wanted to remake the lists for upcoming cycles…
I don’t even remember exactly what happened but I remember going to the voting to get the list from there in the end because I lost it somehow

Title: ラブ・バレット 1
Book type: manga
Available formats: physical / ebook

Content warnings

Heard people say it gives off Madoka vibes, so be warned on that sense, though it’s only 1 volume so not sure how much can be in it tbh

Reason(s) for nominating: Heard there was some noise on this manga after the author asked for help online to stop it from being cancelled and a lot of people bought it and praised it for honestly being good, so I’m curious lol

Title: 裏世界ピクニック 1 | L23
Book type: manga
Format: physical, ebook

Content warnings

Horror & some violence (guns), but from the little I know of the story, nothing extremely graphic

Reason(s) for nominating: I love what I’ve read of the LN, but it’s too hard (it uses a lot of uncommon vocab and kanji), and the manga is a lot easier. It’s a slow burn, with enjoyable leads, and a very interesting use of surreal horror. The art is great, and I’ve heard it’s a good adaptation

Title: このぬくもりを君と呼ぶんだ | L30??
Level: Nobody’s graded this yet, but from the preview I’d guess L26-28?
Book type: light novel
Format: physical, ebook, audiobook

Content warnings

I don’t know

Reason(s) for nominating: It looks cute, and I’m on a mission to read, grade, and tag as many yuri LNs as possible - or encourage others to! Also it has an audiobook, which makes it more accessible than some of the other LN nominations.

This is one of those rare ones who’s audiobook is available on both Amazon US and audiobook.jp to boot; very nice!

Title: あさがおと加瀬さん。 | L19
Level: 19
Book type: manga
Format: physical, ebook

Content Warnings

It’s been a really long time since I read it, but I don’t remember anything. A friend mentioned it does have some uncensored nudity (I’m guessing one of the characters changing or showering or something?), so maybe occasionally NSFW?

Reason(s) for nominating: It’s easy level, and it’s a classic! Also an accessible no-furigana choice. Very cute and wholesome. One of the leads is very original (gardening nerd), the other is an athlete. It’s one of those sweet, wholesome, fluffy recs - though occasionally mild drama that causes the characters to work on their relationship (may not even be in this volume). There is also a follow-up series that takes place in college!

This is free to read on Amazon until Nov 14 for those curious.

Title: 君めく夜に焦がれて(1)(描き下ろしおまけ付き) | L18
Book type: manga
Format: ebook only

Content Warnings

There’s a ナンパ scene, and one of the characters has some self-loathing, but nothing comes to mind other than that

Reason(s) for nominating: It’s a new series that I’m really enjoying. The setting is kinda unique - half at school, half at a nighttime cafe. Two schools were merged into a single high school, and it became a Romeo & Juliet setup. The leads are cool and interesting, the art is beautiful (it even has occasional color panels). Also it might benefit from more gradings than just mine

Title: 行進子犬に恋文を | L23??
Book type: manga
Format: physical (hard to find), ebook

Content Warnings

Military. No idea besides that

Reason(s) for nominating: It’s not a setting I’d usually read (the only other military thing I’m into is Full Metal Alchemist), but I like the art style, and I’ve heard their relationship is really nice, and I just kinda have that “I want to read this” feeling. Plus it’s another Yurihime series, and I have a goal to read as many (of the ones I like) as possible.

Title: 付き合ってあげてもいいかな 1 | L23
Book type: manga
Format: physical, ebook
Status: finished

Content Warnings

I don’t know. I have a vague impression the series can get kind of heavy - but I’m really not sure.

Reason(s) for nominating: It’s been on my “I should just read this already” list for a while, and a lot of ppl seem to feel it’s a very realistic, mature depiction of lesbian relationships, and how they take work & effort, in contrast to a lot of more light/fluffy yuri.

:woman_shrugging:t4:

Reason(s) for nominating: Picked up a few vols of this when they were 50% points back. It looks quite good (and a few people around Natively have mentioned liking it). it’s also at the edge of what’s easy for me to read as a manga, and with a neverending tbr I usually bias towards easier things…so I’m more likely to actually read it with the club

We don’t have a limit yet lol
We will never be out of place
(It’ll just be not as comfortable to vote since people will need to know to restrain themselves across 2 polls)
