I like this option because it keeps a little scarcity of badges, you would have to participate at least once for each badge you earn. Otherwise, if you get all the badges in your first year all the little rewards are used up in one go! Also it would mean that the number of badges you have = the number of years you have participated.
My Inkling comment was absolutely meant as a joke, I don’t care much what badge I get as long as I’m able to read
I voted for only 1 badge / choose the one you prefer among those you’ve collected.
I think what eefara means in the poll with ‘You pick the badge you receive from among the levels of bingo you achieved’ solves that. So someone getting 3 bingos qualified for the first three badges but has to choose just one. I think… I’m getting confused
As @mitrac said, you could still get it with more bingos if you just choose that one… but that sounds like a logistical nightmare for the person attributing the badges ie most likely me.
We could always do a “results table” similar to the readathons, where each user fills out the number of bingo they got, and the title they choose within that rank. Whoever assigns badges can then batch-assign them (I think?? I’ve no idea how badges work)
Yep, mitrac is correct. So if you got three bingos, you could pick the badge you’re awarded: either the badge for one, two, or three bingos.
Same as the WK readathon, I think it’d be reasonable to put an end date: if your results and badge selection are not in the table by then, we reserve the right to not give you a badge for that bingo year.
Two more books finished, two more bingo squares filled! First is 죽이고 싶은 아이 | L25, a reread of course, and I could hardly believe how easy it was, compared to just over one year ago. I should be reading book two reasonably soon, while I still have this one in mind. Then, one that I just finished today, LA OTRA ORILLA FG (FORMATO GRANDE) | L42 . This is a short story collection that I feel like I’ve been reading and recommending to people since forever, and indeed, I started reading it in April 2025, story by story, leaving myself time to digest them. This is one that I would absolutely recommend still, just not to anyone intermediate or below, because a lot of the stories are built to make you doubt what’s happening.
As a test drive, how about I grant all applicable 2024 badges (updated to be 2024/2025 badges) to 2025 participants? I have just finished preparing the csv files for that. Considering they are different from the future badges, you are not loosing the drive to get more badges/titles this time.
Sorry that they are in Japanese, @ddochii@monace. If you have a Korean equivalent you would prefer to use, I think it’s possible to give you custom titles (but then you would lose it if you change your title)
I will wait until 2026-01-16T01:00:00Z (ish) to see if anyone is opposed to the idea.
Edit: since there was nothing but positive feedback so far, I just went ahead and granted the badges.
Sounds good to me!
Now that we have several people updating the 2025 table though, maybe instead of a Korean equivalent the English ones above would be better, for people who read in diff languages.
And as a note, since it came up in the 2025 thread, everyone participating with a 2026 bingo: please make sure your name is in the table in the second post! Makes it easier to find everyone who needs a badge at the end of the year, and easier to add yourself now than us having to hunt you down in December, haha.
And for those who haven’t voted, we have two badge polls that’re looking for input: poll 1, poll 2.
Well, there are only 3 people who didn’t read in Japanese who will get badges (including yourself). One already indicated that they are fine with the Japanese badges, so it’s only you and @ddochii
As things are setup now, you would get 読者 and 本好き, @ddochii will only get 読者.
As far as I can see, 読者 is the same in Korean (in hanja), so I guess it kinda works anyway?
Btw I don’t care about the badge haha Japanese or whatever is fine. I don’t read hanja, so it wouldn’t mean anything to me.
i do think having just English would overall be better for everyone, esp what with the multilingual bingos people are making. But perhaps next year if it’s too much work rn to make that happen. (Tho the Korean versions sound a lot cuter haha)
The English version is the plan for this year (according to the current poll results at least). I’m waiting a bit longer before closing it, but if it goes through I can give you the English version instead.
