I love this chapter. Poor 神官長. I wonder what he’s thinking while freezing over the book. It’s probably not only the impact to the market prices…
Also in general, how are you supposed to know that “What is this” means “How did you manage to add flowers to the paper, I don’t quite manage to comprehend the production process”?
The Cinderella conversation is hilarious. Maybe 神官長 wants to give us some other plot ideas?

Will Myne’s parents even allow her to stay in the temple for the winter?..
I feel like it’s too much money… Especially for that one day in winter you can get that sweet fruit. Give up on it and you don’t need hats, gloves, carts, etc.
金欠病 is a wonderful term.

Where is Benno when Myne needs some money-related braincells 
Damn, Gunther is one whose job is to keep everyone safe and yet, powerless to do so. This dynamics hurts me

Fran had to remind Myne AGAIN to hide Eefa’s pregnancy from everyone in the temple, ugh.
Ahahahah, Benno pointing out to Lutz that he owns Myne money but turning it into another test-shaped learning experience is soooo nice. It’s been a while since he did that. (Also awww Lutz is slowly turning into a tiny Benno)

Wow, I love how far we went with Cinderella thing compared to the anime.
Myne could’ve made a book out of her mom’s stories, I wonder why she didn’t try that.
Also… Knights’ stories are one of the basics that everyone knows? Can I hear more about that, Rozinne, Wilma?

She’s growing on me despite her (very realistic) insufferable childishness that even Gil doesn’t have.
Somehow I’m both annoyed and elated by the slice-of-life& engineering chapters. On one hand, I want plot and more interpersonal relationships, on the other hand it really cements their this world feels. Yum.

“After we made those books we don’t have even 300 pieces of paper” - ??? - “if we use all materials it’s gonna be about 750” - !!!
That’s WAY more than expected.
(Though why? 30 books * 10 pages is already 300)
Somehow seeing (reading) Lutz use such big numbers about something tangible in front of them makes me feel like a proud mom lol. Babyyyyy good jobbb
In this chapter Fran is saying that the help request from the knights comes once or twice before winter every year (!!!)
And look at that, maidens… I mean blue robed priestesses don’t usually go there to avoid bad rumors because knights = being out with many man. Amazing, not even knights are safe.
A casual mention that Lutz went to Benno’s place to eat (and to report) is so nice, compared to that time he had to spend money to buy lunch at the food stalls
The dress/clothes for the ceremony are so detailed and beautiful… You know it’s handmade and wow that’s a lot of human-hours in that thing.

Wow, the tempo went up (with everyone being like RIGHT NOW URGENTLY NOWNOWNOW) and it’s exciting how this kind of scenes in text made me read faster too.

Oh, that “it felt like we pierced something like a cobweb on our way up” was 100% that magical barrier around the city! The one that makes contract magic work or whatever, when Benno was explaining why the contracts work only within the city
Lutz and kids: Myne! トロンベ is a super dangerous tree! It needs to be handled immediately or we’ll need soldiers at the wall or even knights to handle it!

What is this hellishly painful healing magic? I need to know if there’s is a better spell for it.
I have to say, in the anime Myne’s guards didn’t look like teenagers…

This chapter really puts into perspective Shikikoza’s complaint about Myne blessing the knights in the beginning.
His pov is probably like
Shikikoza: You just used like half of the mana I have! Are you a moron?!?!
Myne: that was like a drop of water in my ocean, what is this guy even talking about
Shikikoza: grrrrr!!!
Also in general
Nobles: we need more people, grab everyone who has decent amount back to the families if at all possible
Temple: we have no people to do ceremonies
The Knights order: we like, don’t have enough knights now
Myne going OP on them: why are you so confused? It’s just some magic?
Hmmm, Benno said to make connections with nobles, can Myne maybe have a contract with the knights? Like ダームエル seems like a soft guy that will not be a bad match for her? And he has too little magic in comparison to her (his x2 mana reduction to tronbe did nothing compared to the mana from Myne’s blood) so we don’t need to worry about like, marriage and kids.
Ferdinand-sama, what does it mean, under your protection? Can we hear it in detail?
Benno will get a noble customer out of this, but can our Very Pregnant Corinna really make another one before winter?
Can we get that ring back to be able to send SOS signals the next time something like this happens?
This is the smoothest beginning of an interrogation I’ve ever seen.

Super late answer to eefara about book making process
So we’re not using wood anymore - it’s too long to cut out & needs money and a master with tools that are not popular around there (small detailed woodwork)
The process moved to making template out of thick paper and covering that in ink (so that empty spaced will be black on a page below).
And when this template piece of paper dries it deforms (similarly to how a wet piece of paper dries and becomes wavy/wrinkly) so they want to “print” a lot in one go to avoid cutting out the templates too often.

Vol 5. Epilogue
The memory Japan trip was so detailed!
And yeah, Myne was a kid in that bath scene, she literally says “and you’re not interested in this body of a small girl so who cares”.
Ferdinand is adorable, he was so worried in the beginning that Myne would hate him for this and then with each next step went “what… What… WHAT”, adding more and more things to scold Myne about lol.
Also seems like he wasn’t corrected in his past assumption (after the mirrors in the bath) that Myne is some high noble. Hehe.
ぎゅーとはなんだ？ he asks
(I think anime had him pushing her away and then in the second hug saying “isn’t that you who want to be calmed down?” or something like that and then accepting it. That was nice, but so was this one where he didn’t say anything and just stayed there)
And thanks to @araigoshi for mentioning the short stories missing from the Junior edition. I ended up listening to them in the audiobook
…The Junior edition didn’t have afterwords either

Christine-sama was living The Life, I see.
Waking up late, doing some learning with private tutors after the 3rd bell, then turning everyone away as she’s “ready to rest” and “rest” by doing arts with her gray robes priestesses until late in the night.
Wilma is apparently regularly teaching kids (at least those before baptism) to praise Myne-sama for the food at their table (the soup they make).
Rozinne is also not impressed with Delia’s life goal of becoming a mistress! So maybe it is NOT normal after all? Pleaseeee

Ugh, here goes another reminder that a waitress is a prostitute, so being a waitress and being a gray robed priestesses is basically no different on those terms.

We knew that he doesn’t have a relationship from his reaction to Hoshimusubi Festival, but I guess Ella is too young too. That poor man.
I was so worried someone in this chapter will mention that Myne is a commonner…
The soup info! The water “can have sand or dirt” - wash it, whatever - but “you wouldn’t be blessed by good children” & “you might not be blessed by children” seems more serious!
What about the soup water causes miscarriage / infertility?

…and I hate their noble society. Can we not get close to those awful people please?
They have finally managed to make the first book, and Myne is finally getting enough workers (lol) to make things she wants on a bigger scale.
Having to learn all this noble stuff and not being able to help out now not because she physically can’t but now because it’d be improper is a bit sad.
More slice-of-engineering &development, more!
I wonder if there is a way to motivate Myne to invent electricity… If not, she should make textbooks and let someone else start the industrialization…
But alas, nobles are shaping out to be the local evil bandits, hunting for our poor maiden. Even the knights can’t be trusted 
I’m considering reading vol 6 in March and vol 7 in April and then to (watch the new season) and to have a break before Part 3.

I read the prologue yesterday and Chapter 1 today.
Vol 6, プロローグ
First of all, re-upping what I said when I peeked at the front matter a while back, but it’s nice to see the town map upgraded to a region map.
So this was maybe not a great chapter to open up on with “I’m going to read the big girl no-furigana edition” lol. I think this is one of our first heavy noble-to-noble conversations that we see, and so especially until the attendants were sent away, lots of challenging language.
It’s interesting that Karstadt hadn’t realised the full extent of Myne’s mana potential from the display at the end of the last volume. Like he realised that she’s more powerful than a lower-class noble at least, but we had Ferdinand musing she’s more powerful than the city’s lord who is supposed to be the most powerful noble in the city.
Vol 6, 印刷協会
So like “something” happened with nobles, that she’s not allowed talk about, and now Myne’s clothes are ruined. Shouldn’t Benno be more worried, given what we know of this world? Like as readers we know the story wouldn’t do that to Myne, and also we know what actually happened, but we also know that the world is bad that way and Benno lives in that world.
Maybe my opinion of the world has just been darkened by one of the last things I read being the bonus chapters for last volume which both made it clear that the world sucks.
A little surprised Myne had to explain scale vs marginal profit to Benno! I guess it might be more that Myne knows the scale of the target market in our world and thinks she can grow the market to that, while Benno is thinking of the size of the current target market in Ehrenfest.
It’s good to see Frieda back, even if just for a little bit.

Well, she looks fine (and she is). As he says, he is probably better off not knowing anything.
Not sure I would count that as explaining it, especially since he still doesn’t want to sell with slim margins, but yeah, to be enough profits, it requires levels of production and logistics that just do not exist in that world. Even in the real world, I was checking History of economic thought - Wikipedia and it seems to me that you have to wait the Industrial Revolution for her position to be popular.

It didn’t matter all that much I suppose. I found it interesting that Ferdinand said that she had adult memories form another world and he’s like “oh wow, crazy, haha” and that was about it. Maybe this has happened before? Maybe he doesn’t fully believe it.. who knows..
