Reason(s) for nominating: This is a short (144p) and relatively low level novel which would be a change from the manga that we mostly read with the club, but probably not take us all that much longer to get though. The two reviews of it hint at a spicy scene, if that’s your jam. It does appear to be Kindle only, which is a bummer, but it is on Kindle Unlimited (in both Japan and the US, maybe other places?) for anyone who has a subscription.

Completely unrelated, but I just saw that 僕らの食卓 ～おかわり～ (2) came out two days ago! I am planning to get it and read it soon™, but maybe we could discuss it in the thread of that series?

I added it to my watchlist on Mandarake but also found out that DHL isn’t shipping to Canada right now bc of our looming postal strike, so “soon” rather than soon is probably better for my chances of a physical.
Amazon ships here quickly and I don’t think it’s DHL, but ideally I’d find somewhere else to order it if I’m going to buy it new. But I think CD Japan is also DHL…

Unless there’s something unique to Canada, Cdjapan usually gives you like 5-6 shipping company options, at least anytime I’ve ordered.

I’ll have to check them if I get desperate. It might just be that DHL is the fastest/cheapest to get to me. I can also just buy it digitally and then try to snag a used copy the next time I do a larger physicals order. I’ve been trying to be good since I got back from Japan in April, but 僕らの食卓 def qualifies for an exception.

cdjapan did have a new fedex option but personally i don’t use them for a few reasons…i love dhl … and the magic of time travel from japan…always so fast! not sure about all the fed ex options and getting to canada…but seems like it’s possible

iirc there’s no chicken scratch in 僕らの食卓, and it’s one of the manga that really benefits from being printed on slightly off-white paper compared with the stark white of digitals. I’m usually not all that picky when it comes to buying digitals and only pick up physicals for things that I plan to read more than once (or if I’m in Japan and can get it very cheap), but the printing for this publisher, I guess, is really nice and I’d like to keep collecting them physically…
Thanks for investigating CD Japan shipping for me. Hopefully they figure out the strike soon and I can just order from DHL… but it does keep me from impulse buying manga, which is probably a plus
