Ack, I forgot to edit that. Thanks for the catch!
It reset the vote! ![]()
Sorry, I had to remove the poll then re-add it to change that.
Did anyone else vote before I did that? >.< Sorry everyone! Please re-vote if you already did! Promise I won’t touch the poll again.
For those who are on the fence about 吸血鬼と愉快な仲間たち, volume 1 of the manga is free to read until 2/2! I read the first volume last night and continued straight on to volume 2. So far, the art is gorgeous, the character dynamics are entertaining, and the setup is intriguing. It’s funny yet heartfelt with a nice mix of slow-burn romance, horror, and mystery. I am very interested in exploring the original novels now!
Thanks for sharing. I’ve been interested in checking it out myself so I’ll pick up the free volumes to start with!
Say no more ![]()
I’ll check it out tomorrow, thanks for the heads up!
Thanks for the rec, I loved it so muchhhh
The first vol was indeed a combo of hilarious and feels.
Wow, your promotion might have turned the tide! 吸血鬼 is tied with No. 6! ![]()
Hmmmmm, I want to read No.6 but do I have room in my reading list for it now…. ![]()
If it helps decide, the vote ends on Sunday, meaning the absolute earliest I’d anticipate the new book starting to be the 16th, with the 23rd or March 2nd being more likely.
One of us, one of us!
Everyone… You need to read 箱の中, it’s definitely a must read. It’s not your typical BL as it’s more realistic and also deals with LGBT issues. It’s such a good novel. I love it so much. It’s one of my favorites. If you read it… There are two editions afaik, make sure to get the one that has all the extra stories as they’re very important. It’s such an amazing and at times really emotional novel.
The main character Douno is sent to prison for allegedly molesting a woman at a train station. In prison he runs into problems with other inmates and is saved by fellow inmate Kitagawa who has been convicted for murder. These two fall in love, it’s the first time Kitagawa has ever felt like that about anyone. I don’t want to say too much but some parts of this novel are really emotional. The extra stories I talked about deal with their lives after their release from prison.
This is easily the kind of novel everyone should read regardless of whether they’re into BL or generally LGBT themes or not.
Reminder that there’s only a few days left to vote! Which will be our next book? ![]()
And No. 6 is our winner!
@Kroki, as the nominator, would you like to run the club?
Yeah, I’ll set up a thread later today~
The home thread is up because I didn’t want to work anymore:
My feelings about pacing are deeply skewed by Hamefura, so please feel free to chime in!
I just started watching 花ざかりの君たちへ S1 | L24 and I wonder how many of us were awakened to BL due to this specific manga… ![]()
Anyone got any BL recs for anime/drama released in the past year or two? I’m halfway through https://learnnatively.com/season/77097993ba/ which I’m loving. ![]()
Well 中津 certainly was ![]()
There’s an upcoming one that looks really cute
I was already 腐ってる before hanakimi thanks to fanfics, but it was probably my first experience with BL themes in a mainstream release and opened my eyes to the fact that I could not only encounter it, I could come to expect it in later shojo anime and manga.
Wait. No, I guess the first would have been Sailor Moon. Although in the English dub they made Zoisite a woman to handwave that away.. Cousins my ass.
And then Gravitation came out a few years later and I was ruined. ![]()
